Maddison

Recommended Posts

Players are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, same as everything else, we turned down 40 million, and now 50 million, if there's another bid we'll turn that down as well because we can't really replace him, meanwhile his value has gone up 10 million without us doing anything. That's why you don't tell a club a players not for sale.

Because just because you can afford to spend a lot doesn't mean it's a good idea to do that. Like you could buy a Mars Bar for £50 if you really want to. Also, spreading the cost is just good business. Most clubs do business that way, you lot still owe us £8m for Perez for example.

Anyone know if we’ve kept the guarantee for Perez? 🤔

Honestly? I think you're just being shrewd. You have an asset you're reluctantly willing to part with, but you don't want to set a precedent that you'll sell on the cheap. That's a terrible image to portray. It would be insidious and far reaching.

You bat back a few low-ball offers, then accept a higher bid, you're not pushovers and you can demand high prices for other in-demand assets.

The bit you don’t seem to understand is Maddison has his eyes set on England and a much bigger club than either us or you. You are a few years from qualifying for the champions league ( if ever ) and Maddison will want a bigger challenge next year not a sideways move for a bit of Arab money

We're doing that (Bruno), but there's a reason why Newcastle's owners think they can find a compromise for Maddison and with Eales and Ashworth in charge, it's neither naivety or stupidity.

Thats called pissing in the wind, your opening bids were pathetic, too small and structured (do you use Klarna by any chance) and with our owners previous record there is no way they’d entertain that idea and likely be annoyed with Newcastle for even believing this was a rational attempt.

I don’t know who you’re trying to convince it’s all in your own head I reckon.

Every player has its price, our owners also billionaires won’t play along with small structured deals and there is no way we sell both Fofana and Maddison. Our owners will simply say no regardless and f player, ala Mahrez, he got his move the following season on Leicester’s terms.

That's a very skewed analogy. A more accurate one would be you going into a Ferrari dealership and slapping a tenner on the counter for a LaFerrari and then being upset when the salesman calls security on you

... do you know how many trophies Newcastle United have won?

In the last 70 years a quick Wikipedia search indicates an

FA Cup 1952, 1955

Intertoto cup win in 2006

Inter-city Fairs Cup in 1969

Texaco cup 1974 and 1975

Anglo Italian Cup 1973

Fair play, after reading that list, it's hard to imagine why Madders would want to stay at Leicester when this Newcastle club won the Intertoto cup when he was 10. His whole career has been leading to guiding Newcastle back to their former intertoto cup glory :D

The truth is football is on a very slippery slope now with all the stupid money and owners joining the party. In your case dodgy   owners. The league will become less and less competitive as the big 6 is already a 2 and most of the rest can’t keep up. Rising prices will mean more lose interest in the product and that’s the beginning of the end of the PL

You can have him back as he’s crap and you ripped us off for him

I never really understood that deal. He was good behind a big targetman, for a 10th-17th placed team. Never really saw how he'd fit in your team.

Haven't West Brom, Shef Wed and Blackburn won more than you? :D

Depends on what you consider relevant. What's relevant to me is that Leicester is the 6th most successful club in England since the Premier League ere began, and we have the best facilities in world football. Newcastle aren't even close to being on our level.

You say that but Newcastle can offer Maddison 200k+ pw and we can't.

Newcastle will be competing at the top end of the table within the next 3/4 years and Maddison might fancy his chances of being a catalyst for that. As much as it pains me to admit, their ceiling is far far higher than ours.

That being said, their offers are paltry and considering what Grealish went for we shouldn't consider anything below 70 million.

The important part...

For context:

Marty McFly still hadn't arrived in 1955 yet.

Britain still hadn't decimalised their currency.

The Vietnam War hadn't even started.

48 countries still hadn't declared independence from Britain yet.

Britain was still 18 years away from joining the EEC.

Kevin Keegan was 4.

James Dean was still alive.

Coronation Street wouldn't be aired for another 5 years.

Cardiff wasn't the capital of Wales.

Eurovision hadn't started yet.
