I had a twitter spat with a Saudi FC fan who was going on about LCFC fans amusing self inflation of our clubs status. Basically laughing at the thought that we can demand such over inflated transfer fees when the money clubs come calling. We should roll over, let them steal our star players and be grateful. Still some work to be done on the image of the club.

He won't be laughing when someone comes in for Bruno thingy.

newcastle fans have really become insufferable now their owners have money. hope they go down next season :D

That would be funny. Hopefully Al-Newcastle go the route that QPR did when they came into a bit of money.

The FFP reality is starting to dawn at Saudi FC. The Maddison stuff has been complete bolox from the start.

This has all been obvious since the start. Gotta milk those clicks though.

Enjoying the comments on this. Some seem to think they are the only club affected by FFP and they are being unfairly targeted.

FFP pretty much creates the European Super League within the existing structure. It crippled anyone with pretentious to crack the ivory tower of the top clubs and does it in a way that suggests fair and sustainable. Joke.

Yeah, it is designed to separate the super league six from the rest of the league and make it easier for them to poach our best players, since it makes it unviable for us to offer the wages they can

Not sure how Everton seem to be getting away with it.

They aren’t? Have fallen off a cliff results wise since they had financial issues post covid. The punishment for these new rules is a European ban anyway, and they are miles away from that being an issue

It's incredible cognitive dissonance given that our own issues with FFP are the only reason that any media outlet has taken this saga seriously.

I’d love us to approach Newcastle and just go … “BOOM! Here’s £350k for Saint-Maximin, take it and f-off” 🤩🥸🤑

They'd probably say he's better than anything Leicester have got. Which would be awkward, cos Barnes is quite literally twice the player.

I don’t understand enough of it to know, but from the untrained eye it’s hard to know how even Chelsea can spend all this money this summer with the players they’re linked with.

No tweet about it on Crook's timeline but he probably said it on TalkSport

Seen another Tweet which says he did say it on Talksport. Apparently Maddison's getting a new contract.

Oldest trick in the book.

He did, but it wasn’t an according to sources point, he effectively said that it was his opinion he would get a new contract.

Maddison signing a new deal would hopefully put an end to the media nonsense that we're in serious financial trouble and need to sell our best assets to pay off the debts that we have accrued through trying but failing to get into the CL for the past few seasons. This is basically what they said on 5 Live last night before Steven Warnock predicted that we would be the biggest underachievers this season and finish bottom half.

To be able to attract good players we can't afford for this narrative to become the accepted 'truth'.

This isn’t Crook breaking inside news; he merely said he expects both of the above to happen (which, frankly, most of us do, too).
