Typical Johnson. Listens to a story about an unfortunate elderly woman in this country living through the current crisis.

But he makes it all about himself 'I introduced the Freedom Bus Pass!!!'.

That makes everything alright!

No sympathy. No empathy. No heart. No human touch. Just nothing.

The man is absolutely clueless.

As is this Government.

Don't even think I've swapped my addresses in order to vote on Thursday, not that I'm arsed anyway, waste of my day (can't believe I'm saying that, used to go mad about people saying that about the vote).

Not getting the dislike for Susanna Reid? Thought she did a much better job that almost anyone else who's ever interviewed him.

Refreshing to have a national journalist who isn't a political specialist interviewing him. She doesn't "price in" the bollocks he comes out with as part of his character in the way others do. Good job well done, I reckon.

Agree totally. Thought she did very well. Stopped him a few times from spouting his usual crap and asked some difficult questions that you could see he was uncomfortable with.

The next time GMB get to interview him, (hopefully not for another 5 years) they really should send someone with a bit more political nous than Reid.

Ahhh yes, Reid was the problem there. Forgive me.

She just seemed rather obstructive, I felt this during the pandemic as well. They were getting these morons on just to make them look as daft (not that Hancock needed much help in particular, or any of them tbf)as possible rather than having a proper interview. That doesn't seem the kind of style shed usually interview someone pre pandemic personally. Not defending Boris in that criticism though ,the geezer can get ****ed

I suspect things have affected her personally. It’s alright Boris going on about Brexit but that doesn’t actually affect people personally. Covid restrictions did, her colleagues husband ended up nearly dead and I’m sure she knows people who have died. While Boris was breaking his own rules which we had to abide by (students in Nottingham we’re getting fined £10k). And then there’s the cost of living crisis, Martin Lewis bangs the weekly drum on that show and nothing is being done about it, if anything policies are making it more difficult the common person. It’s personal for us all since 2020.

Sure, but that's not a good excuse when you are a journalist, if she's in a situation where she can't be objective and is always going on the attack then she probably shouldn't be the one who's asking the questions

...I wonder what other methods than to attack exist for gleaning the truth and accountability from someone like him who is so used to evading both?

You don't need to go on attack because he does it everytime, if it's not glaringly obvious by this point then it never will be. Constantly just interrupting him, being obstructive just adds legitimiacy to the idea this isn't a fair interview and judging by the response it didn't need this, he clearly had no idea what to say . Reid's methods here are purely to make it as much of a car crash to garner traction clickwise rather than genuinely hold him to account

She seemed to sense exactly when Johnson was going off topic, which is his absolute go-to in order to waffle on about some bollocks that has nothing to do with the question he was asked and avoid it (see PMQs every single fvkcing week). Johnson wanted to use the interview to spout some pre-prepared lines about how he great he and his government are and she just tried to keep things on track. I know some interviewers interrupt politicians giving answers needlessly but I didn't see that as being the case here.

I think she could've just let him trot it out then just flag it up in her retort, tbh part of this could just be my initial reaction, I saw the clip and thought here we go again. Had this just been the one off interview id probably be more in line with your viewpoint

Fair point well made tbh.

Though I do like the idea of the guy being made to squirm under questioning.

Dorries twitter is ran by some frankly awful people who were heavily involved with the CA/Brexit stuff. The thing is these people literally know how twitter and all it's trends etc work. So a publicist thinks they are the type of people to hire for boosting profile and audience. Footballers etc use them as well - take a look at Christian Fuchs twitter and who he follows. Its mind-blowing.

I once managed to track down one of the blokes when he decided to make his twitter account open - his bio said fan of 'Austrian socialism'. Make of that what you will.

I will say it does feel more fairgame with Boris, there was something really sinister with the way Hancock was cross examined cause while I'm not professionally qualified to diagnose him, he must have some form of autism

Not great reading, any of it. One of the standout things for me was the huge increase in costs of Housing, water, gas and electricity for the poorest 10%. Might that have something to do with many of that group being on prepay metres for their utilities?

I know what you mean. Having looked again at that graph, the percentage increase is 4% for both utilities and alcohol and tobacco but the actual amount spent is very different for both areas. That said, percentages can be misleading when taken in isolation. 4% for both areas suggests that housing and utilities were already the biggest expense for the poorest 10% and again, I suggest that is down to prepaid metering and, now I think about it, the effect of Universal Credit and the percentage of which goes on essential utilities
