No. They aren't upset about people protesting, they are upset about the manner in which they are protesting. Creating divisions between yourselves and the people you are seeking to influence is no way in which to start a movement.

polite legal protests arent protests and change nothing

I know, the correct response would have been to have left them there, kept the road open and arrest them on their decent. Still it’s turning off public opinion in their favour so it’s probably self defeating.

The police can't just leave people dangling off a bridge FFS. lol

Brexit is your perfect example, Farage and co whipped up public opinion and forced Cameron's hand to hold a referendum.

This twitter thread is interesting on Brexit. It basically argues that the Truss/Kwarteng mini budget was an attempt to take Brexit to its logical conclusion - ie, the UK as a libertarian, small govt utopia with low tax, zero regulation, high growth, etc. In other words, it was the vision of the IEA and the ERG made flesh. And it disintegrated completely at its first exposure to sunlight.

The absolute state of this government:

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/oct/16/therese-coffey-criticised-for-giving-leftover-antibiotics-to-a-friend

"Doctors have rounded on the health secretary, Thérèse Coffey, after she admitted to sharing prescription medicines with others, actions the British Medical Association described as both dangerous and against the law.

Coffey told civil servants in a meeting last month that she had given leftover antibiotics to a poorly friend, an admission that came as the discussion on how to alleviate pressures on struggling GPs moved on to public behaviour around antibiotics."

Just remember it’s a party what ran on the line ‘the will of people’ for four years and now they want to ignore the will of their own members.

It’s wholly anti democratic the process of a membership selecting a prime minister but now the politicians want to take control of their process and push in their own selection, dismissing the people who fund them

Well Jezza's statement seems to have calmed the markets. This could be the turning point for the Government. We all so desperately want. Ducks for cover:D

The horse bolted so long ago that through the process of evolution its descendant is now a free-thinking, sentient horse-man with a family life and a stable 9-5 job, and only now are they deciding to close the stable door.

To be fair, many horses already have a stable job.

FFS, just drag her out of the Fridge by her hair, stick a dunce's hat on her head and stand her in the corner during the session!

Not that I can't imagine her hiding away, but its possible she's been advised (ordered) to keep a low profile until they figure out what on earth their next step is, especially after last weeks car crash press conference.

I think it’s clear she can’t face up to any questions

she is either going or she will be up on Wednesday repeating the same statements to each starmer and blackboard question (i think they should ask her stuff completely unrelated and unexpected and watch her implode )
