this is true, but not in the reach of EVERYBODY. certainly not to a point of making a radical difference.

I really want to be able to put Solar on my roof and battery storage in the garage.  I'd also love to buy an EV so that I could run on clean energy that i've produced.

I can't afford to do any of those things though.

So what can I do? - well the house is filled with LED lights. I have turned over an area of the garden to growing my own veg.  I've planted some fruit trees.  I work from home 4 days a week, so i've reduced my commuting pollution(it's 55 miles each way to work)

I live in a town where I invariably can walk everywhere, so I tend to do this.  I also tend to shop local where I can at our local butchers, greengrocers and bakery.

We sit in one room at night, with one light on and we still haven't had the heating on yet this year (albeit, that is more to do with cost than a climate effort!)

There is a limit though to what effect this has, and the "bigger solutions" are beyond me financially. i "might" be able to find the £7500 to get a battery storage solution fitted, or another £10,000 for Solar PV. But realistically, I don't have that cash "spare".

Change HAS to come at a national and international level.  The number of offices I see with lights left on all night far outweigh the positive impact i can have.

I woiuld argue you are already doing things, perhaps not as much as you would ideally like, but not every step has to be huge.

Ultimately we need national if not global consensus to moving us further forward faster, but do not demean the changes already made at a personal level

We have been lucky as we were in a position to replace hob with induction, massively increase insulation throughout and finally, do away with our gas boiler in favour of a heat pump and got rid of gass entriely, but I get that not everyone can (be as old as me) so we just do what we can, and nothing more can or should be asked

Great post and I commend you on your effort but this is where the concept of ‘scope x’ comes in. We’ve got to get out of the mindset that we can only impact on what we do personally. Of course you should do that but you can do more to change the system if you want. The dishwasher on my floor at work was being run 8 times a day lol. I’ve got facilities to change the policy to one run per day per floor. Yes I am being called ceo of the dishwasher committee at work but I’m saving 7 runs x 7 floors = 49 runs a day. My scope x here alone outweighs my multiple holidays a year

Yes.

Seems the party feel the same way. Stupid decision to prance about on TV when you have a job to do.

"Andy Drummond, deputy chairman of the West Suffolk Conservative Association, said he was looking forward to seeing Mr Hancock 'eating a kangaroo's penis'." lol

Brexit has made it so much worse!!... disastrous for our Country....all for what exactly?🤬🤬🤬

Not sure how Brexit has made any difference to the current immigration situation. Unless you are suggesting that the government are trying to deal with it in a way that they feel would appease Brexiteers.

I’m no expert on global migration, but any human being with an ounce of Altruism would have to feel compassion for the plight of genuine asylum seekers and fully support their endeavour to find safety for their families. In addition, economic migrants just looking for a better life.

Not really sure what the medias agenda is however by constantly showing migrants landing on our shores, along with their reporting recently for example 12000 Albanians, this year, 10000 of which are single males, up from 50 two years ago, from a country which has no current conflicts just promulgates further resentment. France appear unable to control the number of boat crossings, and once they set sail are no longer the responsibility of French authorities, so showing the French escorting these small inflatables out of their waters suggesting their waving them on their way to UK shores is maybe not the best way to make people more accepting in a positive manner of the situation.

Would you say our relationship with France is better, the same, or worse following Brexit?

The Dublin Regulation had a set of legally binding guidelines on which nation was responsible for the asylum application of the individuals concerned. For those who weren't here legally, they were moved alsewhere very swiftly and within the framework of the law.

Now we're out of the EU, and this doesn't apply, we can't return anyone and the processing centres built when the Dublin Regulation was in effect are now massively overpopulated as no country will take them back for processing. Not saying its right or wrong, but Brexit is a massive factor to this, and many other, shit shows.

Took back control though.

An increase in illegal immigration across the channel was predicted as a Brexit effect. It wasn't spoken about much, certainly not by remainers for whom being seen as pro-immigration is very important, but it was mentioned and dismissed as most other things were.

I never really understood why Brexiters were more worried about immigration within the EU than without it. I suspect it was just seen as easier to talk about.

This person probably wouldn't go down a storm here. But if you've 9+ minutes to spare she seems I 'think to concur with what @Tielemans63was referring to in an earlier post.

Jesus christ, seeing her face should be enough to avoid.

There are actually people that listen to this shite and think it's worthwhile.
