st albans fox Posted 23 June 2022 Share Posted 23 June 2022 1 hour ago, Head Honcho said: This blame Brexit nonsense is ridiculous. Someone once said "People Are Entitled To Their Own Opinions But Not To Their Own Facts" Here's the facts! Current UK v EU inflation rates. UK inflation 9.1% EU inflation 8.8% (May 2022) Thirteen EU countries have a higher rate than us and thirteen have rates lower. Only France and Malta have rates lower than 6% these two figures reduce the EU average significantly without them the average EU rate would be 9.4%. On the flip side and with fair play in mind. Four EU countries have rates above 15%. Remove these figures and the EU average would be 7.1% Seven EU countries have rates above 12% twelve above 10%. Inflation is driven by capitalism. What feeds capitalism... Three simple things we could all do to reduce inflation. Stop buying shite (cheap tack) you don't need (especially if it's from China) Reduce the number of subscriptions you have! Do you need three or four streaming channels or that top of the range £60 a month phone contract and finally, learn to cook, stop buying branded goods. A staple diet doesn't come in a tin or a box. Each year we spend £152,000,000,000 on groceries, £3,000,000,000 a week, £500,000,000 a day. The current inflation bubble is driven by energy costs. This is not a normal situation. The only effect interest rate increases can have is to strengthen the currency which reduces the cost of imported ‘energy’. The flip side of that is it will take money out of consumers pockets which damages the economy. Its a no win situation. The markets have made their decision on the U.K. economy anyway. I doubt it matter what we do. They’ve decided we’re a basket case and they won’t support sterling.

Popular Post Foxdiamond Posted 23 June 2022 Popular Post Share Posted 23 June 2022 If only more workers had the clout that the RMT currently has. When you hear people say ah I had to take redundancy or accept worse terms etc that is an clear case that workers are exploited but don't complain that other workers still have some organisation and muscle.

Popular Post adam Posted 23 June 2022 Popular Post Share Posted 23 June 2022 This country is ****ed. The state of some of these tories in the audience. Won't have a bad word said against Johnson and the worst bit is how the majority of the audience criticise a bloke on the panel who is representing his work force so they can get fair pay and decent ts and cs at work. Surely that's what every ****er should get. We've got no hope.
