Be absolute laughable if we've agreed to him not being allowed to start until September having now left Southampton, but their new man can start from Man City straight the way.

Bunch of fannies

Honestly, what are we doing? We are an absolute soft touch.

This is all so mystifying to me.

Has the whole system fell to pieces just because Congerton has come and gone? Everything was working fine before he arrived, this was my issue when it was rumoured Rodgers would only join us if Congerton followed. We really should not have changed a working setup to suit them, as recruitment hit an immediate downward spiral and it feels like we're lost now.

This is a massive lesson off the pitch for us. We need to bring in a coach that is happy to be part of a well oiled machine, rather than wanting to bring in his own parts and make it work the way he wants.

I don't the club for making the initial mistake, it looks like they're trying to rectify it. It will potentially set up back a few seasons mid-term though.

Ok , I always thought of you as a Brendan fan....are you turning? 👍🏼

You can be a brendan fan and admit he's got stuff wrong. If he was flawless he wouldn't be here.

Saints new man Joe Shields probably had an input in them getting Academy players Gavin Bazuna, Romero Lavia and will get them another future prospect Liam Delap.

So Martyn Glover's not really done much for them this summer, so couldn't see why they would not let him join Leicester earlier......maybe probably wanted him to stay and sort out the paperwork

I would imagine if Delap signs it’s because he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, who was a club record signing for Southampton when he signed.

It doesn’t work like that.

Those targets would have been in Glover’s period of employment. Those player will have been scouted and analysed over the last 18 months.

Basically them not letting him joins us into September is protection of that last 18 to 2 years worth of scouting, analysis, shortlists and targeting.

No different to how some employers in everyday jobs insist on gardening leave to avoid the departing person contacting clients for a rival company.

It’s also incredible naive to think we’ve just stopped scouting or targeting players. One of the main targets is highly dependable on a couple of others transfers going through for example.

Or in going for those players they became aware that the man who helped identify them might just well be interested in a move given they were losing their head of recruitment. The types of signings match Glover and Southampton's recent strategy.

They'll have non-compete clauses so Southampton have effectively put him on gardening leave.

Only if they are paying up the rest of his Contract. Maybe he wants a break before starting a new job with us.

Generally though if he strted with us immediatley that would end his Southampton Contract with effect.

You can still be held to a non-compete clause after you leave a company, it can be complicated!

We're all acting like we know the motives of both clubs and Glover himself. We have absolutely no idea what the specific reasons are for why Glover will start in Sept instead of instantly.

Captain obvious is going to send you an angrily worded letter if you keep trying to do him out of a job. Steadfast and unwavering confidence based upon unfounded and angry speculation is the lifeblood of this forum.

Can this new guy just pull his finger out and sort this transfer mess out asap? Sell those that need to be sold and get the players we need. QUICK!

But...... he's apart of why we're stuck.

He sold us two dodgy players!  (ok get that Bertrand was kind of a free transfer)

And we decide to hire the culprit.

Did he scout vestergaard and Bertrand

Serious note uninspired by the lads he’s taken to Southampton. Che adams and Adam Armstrong as an example.

What about the ones he got rid of?👌
