Premier League 2022/23 Thread

Alot of fuss being made of not alot. When it comes to signatures in particular I'm surprised footballers don't develop forearm/wrist injuries more often, it's like living with a non-stop conveyor of fans asking for any old piece of tat, shirt(being currently worn or not), meaningful random item, medical cast or whatever intricately squiggled on demand. Then in training they're having to sign their old shirts for raffles, this that the other charities, their teammates or opposition mates want one for their shirt collection ... it's no wonder why they get so good at signatures as it seems to be half of their job.

We only saw a minute of the time those kids are there at the event in those viral clips... maybe they're taken into the dressing room(when everyone's decent), to say hello and take pictures or have more trinkets scribbled over.

What I do think is wrong however is the way some clubs charge parents eye watering sums for their kids to be mascots. Not at all fair on children from poorer backgrounds, pure greed over everything else. Charlie Bucket won a golden ticket to go Mr. Wonka's factory don't you know... oops I forgot, Charlie actually stayed at home and the Umpa Lumpas ended up on the night shift.

The worst thing about that arsenal video is them releasing it thinking it shows how great they are.

The girl will just be happy to see all her heroes but a little smile or interaction wouldn't be too difficult. Lack of respect.

Very very disappointing. FFS.

I don't like them filming this sort of thing, it makes it look like meeting players is this massive thing which it shouldn't be. I remember the days of being able to go up and meet players before they went in the ground but it doesn't happen anymore, even at our ground. It's a shame and it just seems like you need to pay to meet players now. Top flight footballers are so alienated away from the fans.

'Etihad Stadium: Man City submit £300m plan to increase capacity to 60,000'

Reckon they'll be at about 70k in a decade or so, will also help with the FFP £ pot.

They have enough day trippers to fill it out, there's enough there now already.

They're already well known to inflate their attendance figures, basically to disguise more money put into the club illegally by their owners. This is no different, and they're only doing it to try and get ahead of the PL/FA punishing them into oblivion.

All to get round totally pointless rules that are in place to prevent new competition.

Ideally they'd scrap FFP and actually focus on clubs that are being poorly ran and preventing owners being allowed to put community assets at risk of going out of business due to their greed.

Tbf the players are probably focusing on the game ahead and trying to get into the right mindset. Maybe it would be better for the mascots to meet and chat with the players after the game.

C'mon, it doesn't take much mental power to smile and have a short chat with a fan. A short 30second chat which will make that girls day won't knock them out of focus.

They'll all have been fans and probably stood in that position before, they know how much it would mean to have even the briefest of chats.

A place in the team is easily up for grabs at the minute lads.... Oh.

Not being funny but what are you doing playing non league team in a middle of relegation. Not exactly going to learn anything other than your teams even more crapier than you feared. It's a bit like Dean Smith organising a friendly against Barwell.

Ha ha yes. I can imagine the conversation though.

Dyche: “I’ve got a friendly for us against Chester from the national league, it’ll do the lads confidence the world of good to smash them”

2 hours later

coach: “Sean, Sean, please come out the toilet, just unlock the door so we can talk to you”
