Nagelsmann rejects Chelsea.

Anyone would be mad to go there until they sort out their squad issues. Strange how when Potter was there nobody in the press was defending him given the impossible task he faced, but now it’s Frank… his mates are everywhere defending him on Sky, in the papers, etc.

Exactly. The place is a mess and needs a proper, proper rebuild. Anyone going there is going to need/demand assurances they can do a job. The club just has vast numbers of high profile players, but no actual style of play.

How feasible is a major rebuild given the number of players they have on very lucrative long-term contracts? Few clubs will match the wages and if those players won't take pay cuts, they might struggle to shift them...

Sounds like a club not a million miles away 🤔

Would be a big mistake personally. There's a huge gap between Burnley and Chelsea in terms of expectations and finances.

But Kompany is - they probably think he can translate his success as a player into when he is a manager at the top level.

Or Chelsea will appoint an ex Spurs manager as to the other way round as it usually is.

Well yes, he's a fantastic coach who has, by and large, been very smart in going to...

...the best financially funded teams in the league.

Yes but if he wasn’t the best he wouldn’t have hung around at that level for as long as he has.

The clubs he goes to can afford any manager they want and they go for Pep while he chooses when he leaves each time.

He’s the best. The best managers always rise to the top.

Seeing how Pep protege Arteta has done at Arsenal, they're probably hoping some of that has rubbed off on Kompany.

This is...out of the ordinary...

It reads so badly for someone who wants to connect with the fans, not cast them out.

Love to know what the media relations/communications officer thought when they saw that. The fact something like that can be posted on their website shows there's a problem - and it's probably why a section of fans are annoyed.

It serves literally no purpose other than to annoy the people who are already annoyed with him.

Can't say I know enough about how Everton are being run (but it's obviously not good). But I do remember Steve Walsh talking about his time there saying he had 3 deals lined up: Andy Robertson and Maguire from Hull; and Haaland from Molde - and the board vetoed all the deals.

At least they're playing away this weekend.
