Premier League 2022/23 Thread

As if Roy Hodgson has a third of his teams season total after 6 games, that's some firefighter mission, shows you that a top 10 finish was achievable for at least 18 of the 20 teams this season with the right coach in charge, an mentality.

Why would we care? He was here, now he isn't. Doesn't matter what he does now.

Ohh, come now. If he can do the same for Spurs as he has done for us, we really should care. They could realistically win the Championship.

Why was Klopp screaming at the 4th official?

Remember the days when Ferguson and Wenger would get fines and bans for criticising referees. Now you have dickheads like Klopp doing this and getting away with it.

Imagining everyone had their 'right coach', what would the league table look like?

The question is sincerely asked, despite realising that only 10 teams could finish in the top 10.

Strong words from Leeds Supporters Trust.

Via BBC:

Leeds supporters issue 'no confidence' statement
FT: Bournemouth 4-1 Leeds United
The Leeds United Supporters Advisory Board have just released the following statement after their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth:

"After the result and performance of the team today, the Leeds United Supporters Advisory Board (SAB) would like to place on record its lack of faith in the current management team at the club.

"The SAB have been supportive of many decisions this year and will always work with the club to improve the way the club connects with its supporters and communities, so it is only right that we also address the current performances and the situation we are now faced with.

"Leeds United fans have, and will always, support our club through its ‘ups and downs’, but with four games left this situation is no longer sustainable.

"The narrow escape from relegation last season should have been the catalyst for a season of growth but this season has now turned into a humiliating disaster.

"The appointment of Jesse Marsch, a style of play so different from that of Marcelo Bielsa, the sacking of Marcsh after the transfer window had closed, the hiring of a of a fifth-choice manager, the purchase of a £35m striker who has played hardly any minutes in a relegation dogfight, the costly and embarrassing mistakes made in the Jean Kevin Augustin case… there have been far too many questionable decisions and people must be made accountable.

"The players must also take responsibility for their abject performances and lack of professional pride since half time against Crystal Palace. To pull on that famous white shirt is something that us fans can only dream of, yet it seems that some of the squad don’t have the fight for this battle.

"We are therefore asking for immediate changes to be made to the first team coach and to those responsible for the recruitment of the managers and players who have been brought in over the last 14 months.

"We would like to place on record our thanks and gratitude to the many staff, at both Thorp Arch and Elland Road, who worked tirelessly to make Leeds United a club that all of those who support it can be proud of.

"The Supporters Advisory Board are due to meet with the club this coming week and hope that they are able to respond to this statement before the meeting takes place."

It was a poor quality season for sure especially regarding the defense side of the game. This was also reflected on the European competitions. ManCity only in the CL and West Ham in the Conference. All English teams knocked out mainly because their defense line was atrocious with hilarious mistakes in every single game.

GDs in the PL don't lie also. An absolute massacre defense wise. We're just at -13 GD because we have some quality up front.

And Spurs could have had one in the first half for a for on Diaz apparently but again VAR said no .

Sometimes you wonder if they just don’t want to get involved ?

They don’t

that’s supposed to be the point - var gets involved on skipp and jota and then you end up 10 v 10.  And then why not Konate pull back on Richarlison ….. and why not …….

my point is that you have draw a line where you’re going to get involved and when you’re not. The bar is now much higher than it was under Riley.

I prefer it this way with the on field ref left to make nearly all decisions and var only intervening if it’s a stonewall howler - which is still not always the case.

That’s quite a statement. Not asking just for the manager but calling out the back management and the players!

Not a happy bunch and good on them for saying it in public. It’ll force the club to act

Nothing good can come from this so late I'm the day. I'd expect this to have an adverse affect and would now be shocked if they aren't one if the three teams that go down.

Which will also be shown teams stay up on probably 35 points. Finishing so low in such a poor season wherever we finish serious questions need to be asked. Frank, De Zerbi, Silva, Howe, Arteta and even Bournemouth to a certain extent have seized the opportunity of this season.

It shows the importance of the next appointment. A decent manager with a good rebuild and we could be back in amongst the top half next season.

Or the following season should this season not finish the way we want. Sheffield utd had a top 10 finish went down, I wouldn't be shocked if they achieved a top 10 next season.

Your list contains all managers who weren't stubborn and showed some flexibility in their tactics. They realised that the majority of teams had serious issues with their defensive lines and decided to be more adventurous with their tactics.

So there will be no mention of him on here then if it did happen, yeah right

Yeah, of course, you're right, that's exactly what I said, that there wouldn't be any mention of him...

Some on here will bang on about him for ever. I'm just saying I couldn't really give a toss what most people do after leaving Leicester (with some honourable exceptions - I wish Ranieri nothing but well, for example), and tbh I don't understand why more people can't just move on.

Some say the leagues poor this year, I'm starting to think it's been fairly poor for a few years 19/20 season Burnley finished 9th and Sheff utd 10th. I don't subscribe to the notion it take us a long time to get back to a Europa level again even if we did go down, as long as the mistakes that have been made are learned from.

We don’t have one of the top 10 squads in the league.
