Q: Why have we struggled at corners with the worst record in the PL at conceding and becoming quite frankly a laughing stock? 

 

A: "All teams struggle to defend these set pieces. What they try to do is get a defender, or even their keeper, to get in a clearance of sorts. The players have perhaps failed to understand my instructions in that regard. It's not helped that most of them are vertically challenged - though not to me of course - which gives our opponents an advantage. Having only 5 minutes a week in a busy schedule to address these issues is very difficult. But we do our best under difficult circumstances."

 

Q: Why do we pass the ball back and fore at the back instead of having any attacking ambition or thrust? 

 

A: "This is modern football in the 21st century. You don't win major trophies by playing counterattacking football any more. By keeping the ball as we do, we try to keep our opponents guessing what we could do and wear them out physically. It hasn't helped that fourth officials have failed to add sufficient time at the end for that to manifest itself. Or that, when they do, we've conceded and lost or drawn games, through the players being mentally weaker than I've told them to be. But we're young and injuries haven't helped in that regard."

 

Q: What do you write on that pad? 

 

A: "Well, it's not a shopping list or hangman to entertain myself as we bore the fans to death winning a hard fought possession game at the back. It's about me developing as a still young but hugely regarded, serial trophy winning manager with a cavalier style of football and capturing those key moments that show I am, according to many commentators and fans, a tactical genius."

 

Q: What is it about the club that pays you £10 million a season that makes it worth you slumming it with us in seeking to overachieve with a young, injury prone team?

I cannot process that there are people voting in. Even before I disagreed with those saying in but I could maybe understand how they came to that conclusion. He's actively dragging the clubs name through the mud with those ridiculous post match comments. Absolutely kicking our owners in the balls in the process. How can anyone want him to stay? He's a disgrace.

Your blinded by hatred of the manager, we are going to lose two first teamers in the summer in Soyuncu and Tielemans, add to that Kasper, Vardy, Evans and Albrighton in the twilight of their careers.

 

All except Albrighton have played 75%+ of the games over last 3 years and form part of of the spine of the team.

 

Add to the likes of Perez, Hamza have 1 year left on there contracts summer and aren't good enough for a team pushing for the top of the table.

 

That's even before you consider the dross like Bertrand and Vestergaard 

 

Whoever the manager is there is significant amount of work to do on the squad.

Maybe he has one last chance at an American adventure? I am not totally convinced he is finished yet, but the lat season does suggest he may be (And I am sure I am in denial about the thought of Jamie packing it in)

To be fair I don't think anyone has mentioned the words " hatred of the manager " but we are allowed an opinion that he is not up to the task. And that opinion is now widely held by most of the fans . The thing for me is even if he is allowed to stay even with new players he's not going to change his turgid style of play. It's not the kind of football I and most people pay to see. And quite frankly his post match analysts are very revealing and embarrassing. So yes with you a new manager and new players are a must.

I think the squad does need a refresh. We've got players who have been touted as the next big thing and are still here years later. Time for then to move on and bring in fresh faces who have the desire to prove themselves still.

 

A lot of players have gone stale and they need a new start and a new club too.

Firmly out. His passing game is boring af and NEVER amounts to anything, we create so few chances and consistently concede embarrassing goals. We know these players are capable of more and I don't think too much of it is down to lack of trying, they're doing what's asked of them as you never see Rodgers yelling. He never puts his hands up after the poor results. Don't want him to stay and see us continue to underachieve, and I really hope he doesn't have any say in recruitment (players or other backroom staff) if he stays on

 

Would much rather us bite the bullet and give him and Kolo the £50m payoff (or whatever it is), try and get as much for Tielemans, Soyuncu and anyone else who doesn't want to be here and get in a manager with experience of a rebuild. We'd have to be clever with recruitment and it would likely be a couple of seasons with next to no chance of European football, but we are absolutely stagnant right now

A forum is about debate, everyone can have a opinion, but on the same note it also ok for people to challenge people opinions.

I'd also add in the problem of having a new man in heading recruitment. Deals for new players can sometimes take 18 months to complete, Congerton has been on gardening leave for nearly 6 months. We could well end up barrel scraping/panic buying new players.

It’s quite simple really, he’s turned an ambitious top half team bursting with potential into candidates for relegation next season. I almost feel like accusing myself of hyperbole as I write this out but his very own comments reflect what he has done and he is running out of shadows to hide in.

 

Just two years ago, towards the beginning of his tenure, the footballing world rightly rated the quality of the squad as a top six team. Players like Youri, Ndidi, Soyuncu were being touted for prices above £60m. Today, these same players would walk away for less than half that. Have they and everyone else in the team gotten worse (perhaps), or has he just had more time to break them down and mismanage them? Bottling the champions league two seasons in a row certainly will not have helped psychologically for any of the playing staff.

 

Then you have BR sympathisers who not only criticise the poor quality of the squad he inherited, but the quality of many of the signings which he has overseen. People say, well what is he supposed to do when the quality of the back up is as good as Soumare, Perez, Vestergaard or Bertrand? They do so and forget that they are his signings. Why do we still rely on Amartey? Because Vestergaard isn’t good enough. They weren’t exactly cheap either, Justin cost less than Vestergaard and Perez cost £30m: I am pretty sure that there have been more effective attacking players who have moved on to clubs below us for the same or less. So this idea that we need to spend in the £50-60m region to get any kind of value for our money just isn’t correct. The jury is still out on Soumare to some extent, but it’s not great that the manager who signed him doesn’t seem to trust him at all. Again, is he really an upgrade on Praet? If Praet is continually loaned out and then sold for peanuts and Soumare doesn’t come good then that will be £40m down the drain on one position under one manager.
 

People also like to point out that he is good at developing young players and I also thought this. But now, the more I think about it, the more I realise that he is often giving youngsters chances simply because he has stretched the squad so thin and so doesn’t have any other options. I wonder if KDH would’ve had the opportunities this season if Soumare had been competent, in any case, his development came prior to joining the first team given his instant impact. Barnes seems to be going backwards under BR, Thomas started brightly but seems to also be stagnating under him and players young and old have been mismanaged or overworked throughout his tenure. Vardy, Kasper and Evans are ageing but it’s no surprise that they are - an elite manager would recognise this and work out a plan for the transition period. This idea that it is impossible to transition from a side with Evans to without for example is ridiculous, everyone said him and Fofana back would signal our return to form, it hasn’t. Evans is a good player but it’s not as if he’s been an ever present here for a decade. Again, an elite manager being paid what he is should be able to figure out a way to get it to work. Or at least a way to grind out a few results without his starting 11. 
 

As for the rebuild, if we didn’t genuinely need one before, I feel like we definitely do now. His comments and attitude will have stunk the place out and the image of an ambitious club which we have worked so hard to achieve is now being brushed in an effort to save his own face. Anything good about the club he thinks he is 100% responsible for, he probably even thinks he helped build the new training ground. Anything bad and it’s the board, the playing staff, the fans or the brute luck with injuries. The longer he’s here the worse it gets, does anyone really trust him to completely overhaul this side?

We would be able to attract a good manager...10 Mill a year isn't ro be laughed at...add to that the new training facilities...the fact that we're in the premiership and the current crop of players.

The elephant on the room is that Brendan doesn't know how to fix our malaise.

 

We can't beak teams down and create scoring opportunities and we can't defend our goal.

 

This has gone on for too long now. The solution isn't different players, it's our tactics and pattern of play which is so robotic and predictable that everyone knows the what the next 3 passes are going to be and it's so easy to defend against.

 

I like Brendan but if he can't change it up for the rest of the season it's time to go I'm afraid.

He's been bailed out so heavily by reaching the Conference League semi final. Which only happened because of his massive failings in the Europa League (again).

 

Ignoring Europe, the league performances and results have been a disgrace. Each poor result excused by injuries which have started to dry up now. Even with just Ndidi out yesterday he still uses that card.

 

I called it at Villa away that he wasn't getting a tune out of these players anymore, then accepted after the Liverpool home game and Europe run that it may just be injuries after all.

 

I've ran out of patience now, the club is just soulless the only thing keeping the fanbase on side was the Conference League over the last few months and now that's gone I don't think many trust him with the rebuild.
