Yeah, I think he'd be a fantastic appointment. You only need to look at how many young players he's developed for Feyenoord and AZ too. All going for big money now.

The one thing I like about Potter is that whenever I watch Brighton play well, their individuals seem to come together to make them a better side. In contrast, even when we have positive results, it's almost always because of individual brilliance or opposition mistakes. I will even go back to the game we played at their place when Amartey nicked the winner in the last minute, through a Sanchez mistake, they should have been 2 or 3 up before we equalised from a brilliant individual pass from Youri and a good finish by Iheanacho.  After 4 years now, it's glaringly obvious that we're no better in our 'possession style' than we were when Rodgers first came in. Contrast to Brighton, and they're a million times better than they were under Hughton, even though Potter hasn't had close to the backing Rodgers has had.

Perhaps the greatest compliment you could pay him is that his side is completely unrecognisable from the one he inherited from Hughton. Whereas we are no different to under Puel, in fact most weeks it's the exact same XI as he would play, even after 4 years of strong investment from the owners. Some might say we're not an attractive proposition right now, but in 12 months time when a lot of the deadwood has gone, the new man in has plenty of opportunity to bring in his own players. If we're still on a restricted budget, this is also where i'd favour Potter as he has been on one at Brighton too.

Bruno Genesio, he's always done well but not really tested outside of the french league.  4 years in the top 4 for lyon before going to china, for what I can only imagine was a financial decision on his part. 

 

Rennes play incredibly attractive football. He would be interesting.

The owners like prem experience don't they? I would absolutely hate this option but I can see them appointing Benitez. Can see them bringing him in to steady the ship and be a bit of a hatchet man (i.e. getting rid of some deadwood) in the same way Puel did.

 

@Ric Flair just read your post on the other thread! It's obviously a deap-seated fear in both of us.

To be fair Benitez did this well at Newcastle but yeah I'm not keen on that. If we're going down the unfashionable route then I'd prefer someone like Wilder. Can organise a defence and demand workmate from players.

 

Potter or Franke would be solid choices for me though

Agree with Potter or Frank, can't get on-board with Wilder though, I personally don't think he's got the right profile for us. I could also see them going with someone like Nuno Espirito Santo to bring a bit of defensive nouse, again, not an option I'm in favour of but one I can see them taking.

 

Whatever happens I don't think they'll go with someone who has no prem experience.

Yeah it's not a glamorous name and not someone in line with the clubs style. I do admire his managerial traits though 

 

Yeah Nuno would be horrendous!

I really am a fan of Thomas Frank but I don't think he'd leave during the season Potter likewise, Marco Rose at Monchengladbach had them playing some lovely stuff and we had been mentioned as a landing spot for Pochetino both of whom are out of work, I'd be happy with any of them
