Watford A Match Thread

They don’t need a defensive coach right now, they need a psychologist. The oppositions expectation rises 500% when they get one against us and our boys must surely expect a negative outcome before the corner is even taken, tense, fearful, grateful to get close to it rather than sure of being dominant and clearing the ball. So it’s two things, our s**tenses and the oppositions enhanced expectation and confidence.

We need to play some mock situations and not leave the training pitch until they’ve defended 10 or 20 consecutive corners successfully. Ok 6 will do. Whether it’s our reserves, a guest team or St Tiddlesworths primary we need to drill it until it’s water tight then increase the quality of opposition step by step, back to basics mentally. Mentally they’ve gone and the opposition are so expectant it’s going to need hypnosis, psychologists or significantly different personnel to resolve it.

They need a defensive coach

Big concerns over Rodgers but I'm not necessarily 'Rodgers out' yet, for two reasons:

i) He has been severely hampered by an injury crisis week in week out that has lasted for the entire season and beyond

ii) It would cost £30m to sack him so  he would be taking our transfer budget with him.  Something often conveniently overlooked.

Would cost a lot more if we do end up getting relegated (long shot I know).

And we have a squad that he has built, can't use the injury excuse anymore. The style of play isn't down to injuries, it is how he sets them up and instructs them to play.

As I've said before, I just want to see exciting football and see us have a go. If he can bring back that style of football I could change my mind from Out to in but as I can't see that happening I am firmly wanting him out.

I find Mendy one of the most frustrating players on our team.  He kills any attacking momentum with every pass being back to defence.

I always say this about him. In any game you can usually count on one hand the amount of forward passes he makes. But at the same time, he's not there to make those passes, just to recycle the ball.
