Not quite a "free hit".

If we lose to Chelsea, we don't want to get absolutely stuffed ... otherwise goal difference could cost us, if we end up on the same points as any of Wolves/Brighton/Brentford/Palace/Villa.

Fair point, well made

Has Brendan mentioned anything about the schmeichel omission?

Yes he said it was always the case that Ward was supposed to play Norwich and Watford. But he tweeked something in the warm up for Norwich, but was fit for today. That’s it.

Thanks. I hadn’t heard that. Just seems a bit odd when he was on for 150 consecutive league appearances.. I have nothing against ward but that would have been quite an achievement.

But we play boring sideways football 🤔

To be fair, I'm a fan of Brendan but we have played some putrid stuff this season and for the 7 games we've scored 4 or more, there's probably double that in which we've been pedestrian, to put it politely. That's not bashing Brendan or the team, just saying that there definitely has been numerous occasions on which we have played boring sideways football.

Madders MOTM for me created everything.

Thought Fofana was quality again. Is a level above in truth in everything he does: tackling, positioning, speed, strength and even bringing the ball out from the back.

Also fair play to Mendy for soldiering on and playing the first half. Rodgers said he was subbed at half time because he was ill and was throwing up, but thought he played fine and wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Might be a blessing to concentrate on the League and possibly two cups. Playing Thursday / Sunday stretches resources and a lot of injury problems seem to be muscular caused by fatigue ?

After that win today, my muscle is fatigued

We were the only team to win in the five 2pm kickoffs, which makes the table look much more appealing.

Thursday v Chelsea is a free hit but we have to beat Southampton at home to end the season on a properly positive note. I’ll take whatever position we end up in if we win that one.

....people keep on talking about entitlement!!!

Posts referring to playing Chelsea as a "free hit", only serves to highlight some peoples mentality and the way they see this club. Every game you play you set out to win, you may feel nervous about a game but seeing a defeat as acceptable, even before taking to the pitch will only engender a defeat. The possibility that they might not be at their best on the day and you hit your own levels, will serve to get you that win, that you have set out to obtain.

If we continue to see ourselves, to be so small and insignificant, you will only then view other post, where positivity, and anything aspirational, is perceived as delusion, endorsed by entitled supporters.

We are not paying a manager £10m a year, for him to not strive to attain top 4. If we sought mid-table, then we are not  going to splash money on something that is attainable by any competent manager. It is an exceptional fee (for a club of our stature in respect of stadium size) so we look for exceptional returns on invest.

About time we tonked someone. Irrelevant of the season it’s good to finally do this. Glad Vardy and Barnes got braces and the team took its chances. Just want us to carry this over into the next two games and finish with some dignity and momentum.

....without being greedy, I would love to have seen either Barnes our Vardy pick up a hat-rick today!!!

Vardy has been very close to one on several occasions but does not press for it and Barnes likewise did not press to make it happen either. There is a ruthless streak that is missing for both these players, and there is a need to be fearless in taking teams apart, and not to be satisfied with what they have already achieved.

It is as much getting into practice for the big games against the big clubs, as you may only get one chance and a half chance, the margins are so tight, one goal could decide the outcome. Being single minded is an asset, players like Salah are not just top class players, because of their skillset, but they are going to take that one chance when it comes, they do not play the occasion, they just execute in the game.

I agree mostly...

strive & compete yes, but not necessary must attain within 3 years, without hiccups.!!  We just Dont have the Financial clout in this our first seasons of trying

to consistently Knock on those covetted doors, frustrating inconsistency, Slip-ups  will be hardlife companions.

And we cant ignore the Covid-period, & late-last-season...& this seasons Chronic injuries. Traditional Top 6 clubs can carry these problems better.

The above is the reason we also cant compete with These Top 6 by repeatingly sacking our managers because of a Shakey season...

Mental discipline & mindset weakness, that "the others & also rans" struggle with..

I believe Vardy ,Maddison, Schmeichel, Evans have it, But not as a team, Plus Youth is not always the excuse...

Look when they were young Owen,Salah Suarez, Ronaldo. Zola etc..

But it shouldn be seen as a weakness, But an Observations on those different levels required & some will push above...

Moving to These World Wide Top clubs, can feed, or even Pull players to that level, But even then ,many players Fall short...

One Staring OTT example, as been the Manutd /Chelsea mishits, over these last few seasons, One Team just had more financial clout to carry it,

Where the other rich club of Late hasnt...

As 5-1's go that was fairly dull:P

Was nice to see us spank someone as all too often this season we have had our pants down, even in this game.

Can't see much changing with Rodgers next season regarding tactics and results but considering what a crap season it's been we still look like finishing top ten.

Would take that next season too providing we sort out defending set pieces which would gain a bunch of extra points.

Not gonna change though is he:nono:

Absolutely. What happened to 'Keep the Faith', 'Foxes Never Quit' and #Fearless?

It's about ambition, if you think small and talk small, you'll only ever attain small. This is a lot different to the word 'entitlement' that someone conjured up as a weapon to use against anyone who dares to question anything this hallowed manager, that some believe we're just so unbelievably lucky to have.

Rodgers unambitious murmurings about unrealistic expectations are more about him hanging on to his own perceived elite status and deflecting blame for poor results and performances onto the team or media induced vision of our club itself.

Far from 'entitled' I think most of us have fairly realistic expectations commensurate with the squad we have, however, it would appear that the ambitious best we can expect from Rodgers is a Roman emperor stance proclaiming 'I Promise Mediocrity'.

Totally agree, l dislike the settling for moderate success intensely not just in a football arena, there is a saying when teaching surfing and windsurfing - "you look where you're going" look down and thats where you'll go!

This applies in every sporting arena.

Great people do not settle for anything less than excellence, most people don't achieve it but the side effect of trying is often great success.

On the flip side those who accept they are not good enough to win consistently (this is in effect what the term "overachievers" means) often find they fail because failure is viewed as acceptable to those with low ambition.

Rodgers as you say sets up "aunt Sally's"

The myth that he is somehow working wonders with a group of mediocre players, nothing could be less true.

By the time ANY player reaches prem standard they are all excellent the difference to great is mentality and sheer hard work, making excellent players into a great team is the job of a great manager,

Mediocre managers settle for and achieve mediocrity.

Not for me anymore thanks.
