A bit below the age level on this thread but did our U12 really lose 10-2 to MK dons ?  Im rather hoping someone is having my youngest on …..

Scored 2 goals and conceded a hatful? Sounds like we've finally achieved that goal of having a consistent first team style in all the age groups. lol

Haha our U16's won away 2-1 vs Liverpool and then 1-0 vs Man Utd. Trey Nyoni got both vs Liverpool. He's a huge talent for club and country.

When was that meant to be? My son is in U12s and they haven't played MK Don's for a long time.

Just as an aside, the fixutres against Porto and Celtic that had been cancalled are now going ahead.

I'd got tickets for Porto so emailed ticket office asking what was going on.

I believe the whole tournament was going to be canned but seem to have changed their mind on that.

Weirdly tickets for Valencia aren't showing yet... but give them time I guess :P

There's 3 groups of 8 in this comp and we are in group A with Wolfsburg who we beat, Blackburn, Celtic, Fulham, Porto, Valencia and Wolves.

Not entirely sure how it all works, as I don't think we actually play any of the other English teams, so essentially 4 games, one which we have played already. I guess after the 4 games top two plus two best 3rd place go into a QF.

We pick the best youngsters at each club born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006, an age band known as first-year scholars.

Mirsad Ali

Leicester

Defender

10 February 2006

Another budding left-back with plans of building on Leicester’s recent success in the position; Ben Chilwell, now of Chelsea, Luke Thomas and Ajax’s Calvin Bassey, who joined Rangers in 2020 without making an appearance, all graduated through Leicester’s academy. The defender, who can also play at wing-back is athletic, comfortable in possession and a set-piece specialist. Ali, who joined Leicester at Under-10s from his local grassroots club and grew up in the Braunston area of the city, attended Soar Valley College before moving to Ratcliffe College to complete his GCSEs.

Do we assume the club have paid for him to go to Ratcliffe? Do we do that sort of thing? I guess being minutes from Seagrave helps too.

The TV programme ex factor style the club did with with Thai trailists had them sending all the boys there.

I might be wrong but I think the land between the college and training ground actually links up.

Yes, they have a program with Ratcliffe college for U15& U16. Not all players get it but those that are on the full time model. You can also opt out of it.

....is Ratcliffe College not a fee-paying school!!!

Interesting that players are invited to attend, is that something like a scholarship, or do you need to be able to fund the tuition yourselves?

Yes it's a fee paying school. The club pays for the schooling for a number of players at that age that are on the full time model. The parents can choose not to accept and keep the lads with their mates in their current schools though. I know a few that didn't take up the schooling and still got the scholarship at 16.
