Maddison plays very centrally even off the ball. Occupies the space that Bellingham has but also right behind Kane.

 

I know he's not an out-and-out winger but I wonder if it's intentional?

Maddison has a fine line to tread here between playing the role southgate wants and his natural tendency to drift inside. Doing well so far and always offering. Some lovely movement if the players can be brave and find him. He is great on those half turns and has done well so far.

Difficult one for Carruthers. She's there to do interviews and can't be too critical in her opinions.
