It's still likely being driven by the 4-5 players we have over and above our 25 man PL squad who are crap and on big wages who we want/need shut of. Now we hopefully loan most of them out worst case but it's still obviously a big concern.

Is there no mileage in doing what Arsenal have done and just paying them off?

I'm sure we will see players leave before the window shuts we are just holding out for the best deals.

...the only solution to this problem is to loan out the players where their wages are covered in full, or we sell them to create space in the squad and reduce the wages. Any other method such as paying off their contracts will not move the needle, we are still paying their wages in the fiscal year. Any incoming will also need to be paid, in effect doubling the wages outlay for the 22/23 season.

I am curious why a rebuild was initially lauded, suppose the potential reasons are:

  1. Rodgers just lied and made it all up
  2. There was some belief from within the club that relevant individuals could be shipped out to raise funds
  3. Top has decided it’s too expensive to operate as initially planned

Are there any other potential causes? Maybe Rudkin misses being the bad guy?

Smacks of the importance of playing one’s cards close to one’s chest.
Don’t announce that we need a squad overhaul before you actually know it can happen.

Would save a massive amount of confusion and speculation on here Top!

So by this logic, we could loan out say Perez and ask only for 10% of his wages be covered, we would still benefit from a slightly reduced wage bill and a space in the squad.

The logic is irrefutable, the reality is distasteful, but the nearer the window ending gets the more likely such scenarios may appear I guess. :dunno:

Top himself said there'd be it's and outs this summer and still says there will be next month.

It's all a bit peculiar

We have to remember that certain people within the Club committed some very serious errors of judgment in terms of the Southampton duo. This has contributed to the current scenario, although there are other earlier failures relating to decisions on salaries and contracts running down etc.  So in Top’s position and him being a respectful and honorable man, it must be difficult for him to accept and work around some monumental mistakes by others he trusted. Would you trust these pillocks with your cash given last years mistakes?

When the dust settles on this window, there needs to be a root and branch stewards on recruitment, as the mistakes made would not have been made if FT had been asked for their opinions

The club seem to have accepted pushing the blame on to the relevant departments though rather than at the managers door. The head of medicine was let go in the midst of excessive and relentless injuries, the head of recruitment was told his contract wouldn't be renewed after a few dodgy transfer windows and went to Atalanta as a result. The only other massive failure from last season was set pieces and I'm sure Brendan wished the red herring he gave about having a designated specialist set piece coach was true as I'm sure he'd have wormed his way out of it but that's the one thing he's going ro have very little wriggle room on.

Is the LCFC business model a busted flush

I genuinely have always had little faith in Rudkin

Unfortunately quite worried about Rodgers ability

Top and King Power know all about business models so no need to worry about R&R.

What does our recruitment team even do?

Now there is a very good question.  Currently,  it appears Ric is doing more work than the lot of them put together!

I suspect that are playing Cluedo (or Clueless) trying find out who was, why and how on earth the green light was given to bring in the Hampshire 2.
