Recruitment strategy under the spotlight

Have a slight feeling that a very decent player will join soon..

Some could be surprised, perhaps to the same extent when Ranieri joined the club out of the blue.

Like Paulo Dybala levels of “shut the front door”?

To be fair.. just us and Girona across the whole of Europe!

😂 it’s boring if nothing else!

I guess that Rodgers doesn’t ally to the idea of getting signings in early to have a proper pre season with them!

If Girona get their finger out, we can have a new “…..you’ll never sing that”

Rodgers has his part to play in this, so it’s a collective issue (assuming there is an issue)

They gave him enough rope..

I suspect he was trying to bounce them and they'd had enough.   This is one of the strangest thing we've ever seen.... in time we will find out the truth... but why did they let him shoot is mouth off like that when they had no intention of backing him?

It will be better to sign nobody than the collection of shite like last year.

In any other business a stakeholder or budget decision maker would be finished if

he squandered the capital budget on useless unusable plant or equipment.

He would be expected to move the poor

Purchases on before falling on his sword.

No organisation would risk a repeat..

It’s become pretty clear that our entire recruitment process is constipated.

everything else is in place for the trigger to be pulled in terms of acquisitions. Just one glaring problem!

NO ONE WANTS our deadwood players.

we are not even hearing any rumors for other clubs wanting our players for sale.

unless by some miracle they are all off loaded in the final week.

I really don’t know what the club is going to do if this is the predicament we find ourselves in. Gone from frustrated to sad to just accepting we should move on with the great 1st team we have and swallow a bitter pill of keeping poor performing players until the next transfer window.

Cant be good for morale of the unwanted players surely?

Considering a fair few of the deadwood players were either signed on his watch or by his direct intervention he definitely has a part to play in this.

All the talk leading up to this window and so far it has been a shambles. At the halfway point its bordering on a joke that we’ve not been able to either sign a player or shift anyone on.

But Rodgers is not the main man with recruitment, its Rudkin, and I suspect (don`t know) we are having serious problems shifting the crap we have built up over the last X years

Rodgers has his part to play in recommending/chosing the player offered, but its recruitments job to find new players and their job to get them out

Although if its true about Rodgers insisting on Vestergaard, Bertrand, etc then he is a bit of a ~@&£ , I agree

Maybe the lack of head of recruitment is causing more problems than we anticipated   :dunno:

The Vestergaard, Bertrand and possibly even the Perez deals are on him. He’s struggled to integrate a fair few players into the squad and team and tends to give up on some players far to easily hence why we’ve had a build up of deadwood.

Its on the board though for giving players contracts that make them almost impossible to shift, lessons should have been learnt after Slimani, Musa and Silva.

The problem is, when you have a load of players who for most part, played collectively shit last season, who are you going to sell them on to on huge wages that they are on now?  No one wants to pay the transfer fee, plus match the wages some of these players are on.

We are beginning to reap what we sow in the past 3 years or so of being stuck with a load of flops that we shouldn't of bought in the first place because they weren't good enough / untested and now we can't flog them on.

I said it in another forum a few weeks back and got shot down, I don't think we will sign anyone.  We will let a few fringe players go towards the latter end of the window, and promote a youngster or two in to the squad. And that will be it.

Ironically, this transfer window would have been much easier to deal in, if half our players had turned up last season.

I'm still more perturbed by there being no changes to the coaching set up and no drastic changes to personnel when it comes to set pieces. We are so ignorant or arrogant to this. Almost every PL club worth their salt now have a set piece specialist coach and many of them have come in in recent years and there's been drastic improvement.

No doubt there'll be the usual suspects along to stick up for the club and Brendan on why we've not bothered but there really is no excuses for this.

Very good point and not one I have seen anyone mention, equally as important as new players this yet the club have failed to address something that was a total embarrassment last season.

Seeing sky mention it almost every televised game was just depressing
