22/23 Injuries Thread

Add Daka to the list. Can somebody please look into the way we condition our players? Beyond a joke at this point.

We were told it was because we played too many games last season, now what's the excuse?

Injuries piling up after most of them have had 6 weeks to allow their bodies to recover, perhaps we need more games now. Ridiculous.

Let's be fair, that still could have been the excuse last time round. I think it's valid.

It doesn't mean the same excuse is still valid now. There could be a different one and it may be for various reasons :dunno:

If there's an acceptance that there's always things outside the clubs control from preventing relentless injuries then we will never change the culture and improve this.

Of course there are aggravating factors but I'm not accepting that it simply comes down to good fortune or misfortune for those that suffer injuries or don't. The goalposts get moved constantly under this regime on many areas we seem to have concerns with.

I'm more of the opinion that the move to Seagrave may have caused it. The sheer volume of medium to long term injuries in the academy is also as much a worry as the 1st team for the last 18+ months.

Whatever is at play, the longer it goes on it cannot be defended as something outside of the clubs control to improve it. It doesn't wash.

It's an acceptance that it's a 'factor', not the sole reason all the injuries occurred.

I think the changes at the club are also a factor i.e. change of physios and sports scientists etc. It'd be naive to think that wasn't partly responsible. In the same way it'd be naive to think that several games all at once with very little recovery time doesn't also play a factor.

It's odd if it is Seagrave considering there are better facilities there. Perhaps it's the personnel/staff again...

You'd hope it's not Seagrave as the chances of rectifying the cause would either be extremely difficult or extremely costly and time consuming but it wouldn't be the first time a change in training / playing surfaces and conditions has caused professional sports players problems.

Really?!

Yep, one of the press pack questions from before the Newcastle game was about Amartey, Evans and Soyuncu and he confirmed contracts were being discussed.

Makes the captaincy situation even more bizarre - Evans promoted to captain yet has played only half a dozen games, Albrighton made vice captain after a delay but has barely featured at all in the Prem, behind Perez and Praet in the pecking order on the right and most of the season has seen Youri taking the armband and he's leaving

What an absolute shitshow. It defies logic.

Can’t believe that we let Maddison go to the World Cup , when they knew he had a bad injury. I know it’s a big thing to go to the World Cup but when he’s one of ur best players he should have stayed home and got it right . No wonder we are in the position we are with injuries , we seem to wait for ages before we send them to a specialist.
