What did he say? Back for next match?

Posted Tanner's tweet, here is the direct quote re. Daka and Praet:

“It doesn’t look as bad as what it appeared at the time. He’s had scans and it’s shown up ok. It may just be a spasm. He may be ok later in the week. We’ve got longer term injuries through broken ankles and knees. Praet is moving better. He’s starting to free up. It’s a very small squad. You see that.”

Rogers just aid in his port match commentary that the injuries are a result of the players not getting enough R & R. we are now skating on some seriously thin ice. Any more injuries and we won't even be able to field a team let alone a competitive one. Just flabbergasted at our situation which is dire in every way.

I think Rodgers is into homeopathy and our medical team are rubbing essential oils and herbs on the players. Maddison has been going to sleep with potatoes in his socks to fix his knee.

had to chortle. Have visions of Brendan placing healing crystals on hamstrings chanting 'om' and hoping their chakras align!

Not enough R&R did he have them in the coal mines over the World Cup or what?

His reasoning for these injuries is an absolute disgrace. More deflection towards his mantra that he hasn't been backed.

Every club has 23 registered players and at the start of the season we didn't have many injuries, so the size of the squad isn't relevant. His point, in reality, is that he doesn't think we have enough quality in depth to rotate, but who's fault is that. Even last season when we had European football he seemed unwilling to rotate or use his subs, even in Europe when we had 5 subs available. He runs players into the ground and then bemoans the small size of his squad.

He also mentioned the fact that some players are playing too much, without enough R&R, yet most of our injuries over the last few weeks have been for players that didn't go to the World Cup and have had a 6 week break.

I've been sympathetic in the past and some injuries. like Praet's, are just part and parcel pf playing the game but soft tissue injuries and repeated long term injuries speak of insufficient preparation and monitoring.

Some of those injured are probably basically finished as pro footballers at this level though.

I thought the narrative was we wouldn’t get as many injuries this year because we’ve not got extra games in Europe? :dunno:

We're back to it being down purely to luck and nothing else now.
