22/23 Injuries Thread

Recommended Posts

The way he has overused the first team is unacceptable especially considering how players like Perez and Albrighton have looked like they can do a job and should have been rotated in a few times. Like against Forest (when he made his pointless subs) BR has been making statements to the board about how the squad and its bitten him on his backside for yet another season.

More time on sidelines?!

Probably out til end of Feb if it's a tear.

This is a direct result of being left alone with Rodgers for 6 weeks and not being prepared for an intense period when returning.

Its no coincidence that those that went to the World Cup are holding up better than those that didn't.

Another thing to point out is that yet again Rodgers has said to the press that a player is a week or so away from returning for it to later to come out that said player is out for a hell of a lot longer.

Now the question is A) Is Rodgers lying? or B) The medical team clueless?

In this instance i'm actually going to go with B) as no clued up medical team would allow these injuries to keep piling up as well as misdiagnosing them.

Dewsbury-Hall?

“He’s due onto the pitch on Friday, so we’ll assess from there how that goes. We’ll take it from there.”

Sorry am I missing something here? Why is Brendan Rodgers saying on Monday 9th January that he was due to be "on the pitch" by Friday 13th January and then a week later we realise he's torn his glute?

Does he not know how long tears take to heal? Can the medical department not diagnose a grade 2 glute tear? Is Rodgers flat out lying in the press?

What the hell is going on with injuries at this club. Seems like nobody has the faintest clue on how to deal with bumps and bruises and only later do we realise they're much more serious than they were first reported.

Or is it more of the case I do not want to play?

Imagine the investor meeting.

XXX million of debt, stadium not owned by club directly, new training ground that is giving us record injuries, value of squad decimated by contract wind downs and severe injuries, constant public misdiagnosis of injuries  When was the last time we were in such a mess?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall debunks myth amid Leicester City injury crisis
The midfielder has not played yet this year after suffering a minor tear of his glute muscle during the warm-up before Leicester City's 1-0 home defeat to Fulham

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall rarely starts a game feeling 100 per cent and says it’s a myth that Premier League players are in perfect condition before every fixture.

The Leicester City midfielder, currently sidelined after suffering a tear in his glute muscle, says he often goes into matches dealing with pains and minor issues. But he says that’s a common occurrence for players.

How City care for their squad members has again come into focus after a series of muscle injuries at the club. They had eight senior players missing for the defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

“I don’t think I’ve ever played a game at 100 per cent,” Dewsbury-Hall told Ben Foster’s Fozcast. “It’s weird, you’re always getting things leading up to a game, you’re sorting out a problem.

“It’s so rare, maybe the first game of the season (is played at 100 per cent), but even then, from pre-season, you’re probably in some sort of pain from something. People think you’re going into every game perfect, but you’re not.”

The injuries at City have proven costly since domestic action resumed. They’ve lost four straight Premier League matches and been dumped out of the Carabao Cup. They’re now hovering close to the relegation zone.

That’s a particular disappointment given the turnaround in form before events in Qatar. Only Arsenal and Newcastle picked up more points in the six games before the break.

“It was tough,” Dewsbury-Hall said. “The obvious reason was because we were playing so well going up to the World Cup. Everyone knows we had a bad start to the season, we didn’t start how we wanted to.

“But then we started to get our rhythm, we were playing well and keeping clean sheets. We won some good games that we needed to win. Then the World Cup just stopped that momentum. It was like: ‘Ah, this is the worst time for us because we’re building some steam.’

“In terms of that, it was weird. Mid-season, it’s usually the busiest part of the season. I didn’t want to be on holiday, I wanted to be at the World Cup playing, but for the ones that aren’t playing, they’re on holiday and it didn’t feel right. It was like an off-season, and then a mini pre-season. It was bizarre.”

Injury latest?

“James Maddison is doing very well so we’re hoping he can be involved in the squad. Dewsbury-Hall has been back training so he should be available. Dennis has trained so he should come into the squad. He came on in the game. Ayo, we have to wait and see. If it’s not this weekend, it should be next weekend.”

Perez?

“He played in the Newcastle game and he felt a muscle issue. He’s been out on the training field. It might be too much of a risk. He played three times in quick succession. But he’s a good healer.”

Maddison?

“Hopefully he’s going to be in the squad. We need to manage that game-time because it’s been a long time since he’s played. He’s worked hard in the gym and behind the scenes. He’s such a gift for us to have. The difference he gives us other players, that’s when you know you have an outstanding player. He’s ticked the boxes. He’s trained this week and looks so so good. We hope he can come through the last session. Then it’s a case of picking the right moment to put him in.”
