Brought up again on talkshite this morning. Talking about how we've not signed anybody, and struggling to hang on to our best players. How Brendan won't be happy, as this is not what he signed up for, and so on.  Some leicester fans clearly got in touch and told them that we were trimming the squad first. Something that was scoffed at by Simon Jordan, who stated that if leicester were the only club across Europe having to "trim their squad" then there must be something seriously wrong at the club.

Because, as Tanner pointed out in that podcast, at this club the manager is the mouthpiece.  It falls to Rodgers to deliver that (and most and every) message.

 

How often do Khun Top, or Susan Whelan, or Jon Rudkin, give an informative interview about the current state and plans of the club?  About as often as you see a comet in the daytime.  I would have thought this was obvious to most of us.  But clearly not.

 

No, it's not ideal, because no manager alive is going to deliver his club's message without mixing in "his" message.  It's a game of self preservation for every last one of them.  But compare Rodgers to Mourinho or any number of others, and he's relatively restrained in mixing the message.

A bit rich coming from a twice bankrupt that put Palace into Administration when he was their Owner.

This afternoon there was more of the same on talkshite. Previewing the weekend's games, the female pundit said that was clearly  "very strange" happening at Leicester because we hadn't signed anybody and we're "happy to let players leave". So I guess the fact that we've strongly resisted attempts to sign Fofana and Maddison have somehow escaped her attention...
