Arsenal (A) Match Thread

Way too negative and can’t get forward. I honestly don’t kno what Tielemans is offering us, his he playing in a defensive role or is he meant to be getting us forward?

Get him off for another striker and go 3-5-2 FFS. Gets Madders slightly ahead of Ndidi and KDH in the middle.

He's simply admiring a team that are now clearly very well coached, disciplined and have played some very attractive football this half against a team that have been very much under prolonged periods of pressure. What do you want him to say?

They are playing a team who have spunked a fortune on Silva and Zinchenko. We’ve not been able to strengthen and we’ve lost our only winger after losing his back up permanently. Arse are at home and are playing a team who have been forced to play a formation that we aren’t great at. A bit of balance in the commentary would help. The penalty would not have been overturned last year. We have now entered the Mike Dean show so expect more decisions like that going against non big 6 teams. Arsenal are massively hyped. Still expect them to crumble over the season.

Arsenal on fire. Most teams that go to Arsenal this season will lose. Throwing away a couple of points last week though, as we all knew, was unforgivable. But, given a fresh start with a new manager and head of recruitment incoming, there is no need to panic. We have a squad that's plenty good enough to avoid relegation this season, particularly if those players being frozen out are given a fair chance, then start a rebuild over the summer. Our club is in great shape and we must stay focused on the longer term goals shrewdly set out by the club last week. It seems to me that they have already made their minds up about Rodgers and that it's now just a question of timing before he is shown the door.

One of the issues around here, people genuinely talking about ‘replacing’ them in the ‘Big 6’ a couple of years ago. I suspect it’s why the criticism now goes beyond criticism and looks as unhinged as Everton fans always do

Us staying ahead of any of them relied on us being excellent and them being basket cases!

Just now, Mark said:

Attack is the best form of defence. You can't with a back five and four central midfielders, so Arsenal are free to pile forwards as they have. The game was done at 2pm.

Nail on the head. It's such an negative mindset from BR. Absolutely toothless formation with zero ambition.

Brendan costs us so many points with his team selections.

Yep.

I know our defence gets pilloried, but our midfield seems hell bent on making sure they get the chance to make as many mistakes as possible.

It's exactly like the start of last season, when Maddison and Youri were both having a mare and KDH wasn't starting.

Seriously guys, how many times do we have to say this that the problem with this midfield is because Ndidi is playing. Don’t get me wrong, he is a good player and I like his defensive abilities, but he is really a major handicap in that he goes into hiding and it is like as if we are playing with one less player when we have possession of the ball. Just keep your eye ball on his positioning and movements when we are in possession. We can hardly get the ball to Maddison as a result and Tielemans is having to drop back extremely deep just to get the ball. We need Mendy on and if Rodgers don’t like him because he is short then try to play Praet. They can’t be worst. I have enough watching this backwards, sideways, no idea football.

Arteta seems to have bought well, and blended them in also. As others have said, they look a class above us at the moment, Seems we have done nothing apart from getting ourselves a free third choice keeper. Some refresh eh ?

That was more of a pen than the Chillwell one last week where his legs collapse whilst he got a bit of contact on his back.

Vards has clearly been contacted by Ramsdale mid fvcking air causing him to spiral, it did looked soft but Ramsdale has got away with it big time there. No chance is that overturned the other way around.

VAR continues to go against us.

Yes it was soft but the only way it’s a “clear and obvious” error and overturned is if there was no contact whatsoever, if the ref thinks no contact has occurred then it’s a yellow for simulation

His treatment of Iheanacho is nothing short of disgraceful. If we are playing 3 at the back then why not play him up top with Vardy. Vardy and Maddison absolutely anonymous in this formation currently.

The bloke must have the best goal/assist per minute ratio in the whole team!
