New Manager? Who do you Want?

Currently beating Rennes 2-0, will go top

What makes the greats stand out is how quickly they get results, I’m not saying Haise will be one (necessarily) but the immediacy of their progress is impressive.

Our poor mentality doesn’t just come from the manager, we’ve stockpiled a bunch of p*ssies who will be mentally weak regardless of management.

Sure, a new manager bounce will be enough to get a tune out of these pathetic specimens. But long term they will show their mental fragility, hopefully at a different club after we’ve got rid.

I don’t believe all 25 of our players are mentally weak as they are showing, there’s a common denominator.

A guy called Toby was on 606 and suggested Pearson and also mentioned Allardyce, Dyche and Pulis.

Also said he wanted Brendan out after Wolves away last season and wanted Mark Hughes to replace Rodgers lol

I would happily see 606 punted off the face of the earth. Dreadful show.

The laugh emoji is interesting @Stadt

She is a successful, knowledgeable manager.   She would be a ground breaking appointment.   There would be differences between the women's and men's games;  imo, she would be capable of managing with the help of a good support team.

It'd be a disaster.

I'd like our next managerial appointment to give us the best chance of success, "ground breaking" isn't high up the agenda. Relative nobodies in the men's game's struggle to command respect at struggling clubs - appointing Hayes would be ridiculous.

Been having a quick look through past few seasons to see any managers that seem to be having success, found a few interesting ones although I don't know enough about their playstyles to know how well they would fit

Obviously Pochettino would be a dream hire but I feel he is probably out of reach.

Gasperini has worked wonder at Atalanta but had a bit of a down year last season so could maybe be persuaded to come, they have no European football this year so that wouldn't be an obstacle

Potter is an obvious choice and has really got Brighton moving in the right direction, similar story with Thomas Frank, although not quite as impressive as Potter in my opinion.

Unai Emery is another obvious name, reputation in England is a bit tainted by his poor spell at Arsenal but he has won 4 Europa leagues and has a runner up too, also made the Champions League semi finals last season. Another that might be tough to tempt but might fancy another shot at the Prem after his disappointment last time.

Arne Slot looks impressive at Feyenoord, has taken them back into Europe and had a great run in the conference league last season

Urs Fischer was mentioned above but has improved year on year with Union Berlin, turned them from a 2nd division side to a team competing for Europe and pushing for Champions League spots, done this with a negative net spend in that time and whilst losing key players most seasons, started strong again this season despite losing their top scorer from last season, 10 points from 4 games, already beaten Leipzig and smashed Schalke 6-1 yesterday.

Kjetil Knutsen has had incredible success with Bodo Glimt, both domestically and in Europe, similar story with adapting to losing key players regularly, their title win a couple of season ago was as dominant as it gets. Untested at a higher level though so would be a bit of a risk, although he hasn't exactly struggled in Europe.

Franck Haise is another name already mentioned but has done a great job with Lens, back to back 7th place finishes after promotion from the 2nd divison. Only a couple of points off of European qualification and improved points, goals scored and goals conceded from season 1 to 2. Has a 1-2-1 record vs PSG over those 2 seasons and has put together lengthy unbeaten runs at the business end of both seasons.

Julien Stephan took over Strasbourg last summer and took them from 15th the previous season to 6th last season, only 3 points off of a European place. Before that he was at Rennes, took over mid season in 18/19 when they were sat in 14th, steadied the ship to finish 10th and won the Coupe de France beating Lille and Lyon along the way and PSG in the final. Improved to 3rd the following season and qualified for Europe before having a poor 9th place finish in his final season with them.

Oliver Glasner is the Frankfurt manager, only finished 11th in the league last season but was distracted by a successful Europa League winning run, including knocking out Barcelona over 2 legs. Had a top 4 finish with Wolfsburg before joining Frankfurt and had a good success back in Austria to start his managerial career, got LASK promoted before finishing 4th and then 2nd in their first 2 seasons.

Imanol Alguacil has done a decent job at Sociedad, 6th, 5th, 7th and 9th place finishes over the past 4 seasons. Won the Copa del Rey in 19/20 to bring Sociedad their first major trophy in 33 years.

Steffen Baumgart took over a Koln side that had just finished 16th and only stayed up via the relegation play-off and took them to a 7th place finish and a conference league spot. Before that he took over a Paderborn side that were 18th in the German 3rd division. First season took them to a 2nd place finish and promotion to the 2nd division, followed that up with another 2nd place finish in their first season in the league and gained promotion to the Bundesliga for only the 2nd time in club history. They struggled badly and went straight back down and followed it up with a disappointing midtable finish back in the 2nd division though.

That's a really interesting,  exciting selection of managers. Thanks for that.

All I would imagine a little too interesting and exciting for our Board.

Give it to Big Sam for the rest of the  season.
