Chelsea (A) Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Supposedly Rodgers came with the reputation of being a good man-manager. Playing players out of position and freezing others out altogether sets individuals and the team up to fail. That is the very definition of poor coaching. Pull the trigger now, Top, before we're cast adrift.

No logic.

He played Wilf against Brentford and Southampton when we were always going to dominate possession and therefore render him ineffective.

Then drops him against Chelsea when it's clearly a game that will play to his strengths.

He's trying to get sacked now.

Yeah, the guy who, one error aside (caused in part by Fofana), saved perhaps two or three other goals.

He's not good enough. It's not his fault. But he's not good enough.

I get you have this national pride thing going on with him but he isn't a premier league standard goalkeeper.

So, Soumare vanishes off the face of the earth, now he’s straight back in starting. Rodgers just continually scrambles to find an answer when he just doesn’t have a clue.

Really doesn't make sense.

Would have made sense to play him vs Stockport.

Don't mind that tbh.  It's something a bit different and god knows we need aomething different.

Ward was always going to be given at least the first 6 games once he was given the number 1 shirt.

Soyuncu is clearly not happy and Brendan perhaps doesn't want to play him for some behind-the-scenes reason.

Glad to see Praet gets a run.  Not sure RW is his best position.  Ndidi has regressed lately so why not give Soumare a chance?

It's very much a squad game, subs will be key.  Flood the midfield for 60 minutes and then have options like Iheanacho and Daka if we need a goal and Ndidi and Mendy if we need to shut them out.

I'm Brendan out and have been for a while, but good to see a change in approach and trying something different.

Completely agree. I'm also Rodgers out, but he gets slated every week for not changing his approach, and now he's getting slated for trying something new. At least this is a bit of a roll of the dice.

Or it could be we're trying to play on the offensive rather than the defensive

Nah I’m going for doesn’t have a clue. Like the continuous dropping of Tielemans, then suddenly playing him and making him captain again.
