Popular Post Aus Fox Posted 23 April 2023 Popular Post Share Posted 23 April 2023 35 points for me is the magical total right now, where I think teams can relax - it may prove to be less than that at the end of the season, but getting 35+ should see you safe. To do that: Southampton need 11 points from 18 Forest 8 points from 18 Everton 7 points from 18 Leicester 7 points from 18 Leeds 6 points from 18 West Ham 5 points from 24 Bournemouth 2 points from 18 Wolves 1 point from 18 Looking at it like this Southampton and Forest are all but dead, especially when you take into account Forests remaining games. Leeds still have to play 3 of the current top 6, Man City, Newcastle and Spurs. If we avoid defeat against them, I can’t se them getting 5 points from the other 5 games. Everton also still have to play Man City, Newcastle and Brighton, so in theory they need 7 points from us, Wolves away and Bournemouth at home. In short if we can find a way to win at Leeds and at home to Everton, then in my eyes 1 more point from the last 4 will keep us up. Our last 4 is interesting, Fulham are now 5 points behind a European spot with 7 to play, before they play us, they play Villa, Man City and Liverpool - by our game they will probably be well and truely on the beach. Liverpool and Newcastle could both be fighting for a top 4 spot when we play them, so I wouldn’t want to need points from these two. West Ham could be on the beach with a European final to look forward to, so could rest key players and give us that final win if we need it. Getting that win yesterday was a huge relief, 2 more cup finals and we can look down on those below us. 5
Number 6 Posted 23 April 2023 Share Posted 23 April 2023 Five thirty-eight have us as the least likely of the five to go down now. Could be big swings either direction over the next week given the fixtures we have though.

Tuna Posted 25 April 2023 Share Posted 25 April 2023 There's not much of this lot I'd bother keeping for the championship, we need some battlers and grafters Burnley showed us what can be done.

Popular Post Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 April 2023 Popular Post Share Posted 25 April 2023 So annoying. If we’d sacked Rodgers and got the trio in in the international break, prior to the Palace game, I think we’d be 1 win off safety right now. Those 3 losses against Palace, Villa and Bournemouth may cost us dearly…
Paninistickers Posted 25 April 2023 Share Posted 25 April 2023 It's risky stuff, but it's where we have left ourselves. I'd back us to get 1 more point than Leeds in the remaining 5 games. They look totally shot to me. Assuming forest and saints win their games in hand on us, it means the same for forest - we need to outpoint them to the tune of 1 in the remaining 5 and Saints just match, or even 2 less. It's precarious stuff. We could be second bottom tomorrow. But, we've got to back ourselves to outperform the three teams mentioned. It's realistic. I think if we beat Everton (not confident) we stand extraordinarily close to a safe home run.

splinterdream Posted 25 April 2023 Share Posted 25 April 2023 Got to say I cannot predict how this is gonna turn out. We have the players to win games but it’s the battle in their head they need to win
jim5000 Posted 25 April 2023 Share Posted 25 April 2023 We keep demonstrating time and time again that we don't have the ability to beat teams around us at this stage of the season.

Sir Shep Posted 26 April 2023 Share Posted 26 April 2023 I still think we are down, more so because we don't seem to be getting the rub or luck. Newcastle and Pool still to play as well, will probably need a win on the last day as I see it going to the wire.

Leeds and Everton have Man City for example

But that Bamford miss was a HUGE dollop of luck and would've been hugely unjust. Apart from that 2 min spell on 90mins, Leeds were second best. And for large parts outplayed. But, at last, we had a bit of luck there.

Yes, now the euphoria of Vardy's equaliser has worn off, the pendulum of belief and confidence we will stay up is teetering. I'm back to obsessing over the other teams fixtures and I do think it's going to be one of those seasons where last game of the season all 3 places could still be up for grabs as Forest and Southampton aren't out of it at all. Forest have some winnable games which bothers me.
