What past player would you take that would get us out of our current predicament?

In our current state, Steve Walsh. Someone who was a leader, a threat at set pieces, and someone who would rather die than get beaten to a header. Someone who could organise a defence, put their body on the line, and give a kick up the arse to those slacking or underperforming.

On the complete flip side, Mahrez would solve a lot of problems for us going forwards and actually having a somewhat reliable and consistent frontline (Barnes - Maddison - Mahrez behind 1 or 2 strikers) would simplify a lot of our overall game. The lack of an out-and-out right winger just means a lot of our lineups end up confused 

I agree. Marc Albrighton solves this. No he doesn't score many but he works hard, stays wide, tracks back and provides chances. Either Maddison or Perez come inside all the time and neither tracks back and helps the full back, Barnes doesn't defend either. Tielemans is incredibly slow in transition when we lose the ball meaning we are wide open wide and through the middle.

Albrighton doesn't have the legs for a full game nowadays I reckon, Rodgers used him much more at the beginning of his tenure.
