We look better with Faes, that's a fact. Because he's a leader, he's improving the others around him. Soumare, Ward, Amartey and Justin have all improved since he came into the team. He intercepts the ball early, get the crowd going with his challenges and is good on the ball. The players around him feel more confident with him playing alongside them.

 

Fofana can be a world beater, but he's the type that plays for the name on the back of his shirt. Faes plays for the badge on the front of it.

I actually prefer Faes, no doubting the quality of Fofana. But Faes adds more of what we need. Great business.

The stats would suggest he is. Evans is getting old and keeps breaking down with injuries. He might well be going the way of Robert Huth who was great for us but after Maguire signed never got back in, even after injuries cleared up.

 

I don't put the blame on the player, sports at the elite level is extremely demanding in terms of physicality and age catches up with everyone. When he's played he's made a lot of mistakes this season.

Fofana is better footballer, a Rolls Royce of a player.

 

But Faes seems to be a better fit.

 

Definitely more of a leader and organisers, seems to make other around him better.

Fofana has an incredibly high ceiling but he’s not outstanding yet. Faes is exactly what we’ve been missing.
