His many limitations have been laid bare over the last few months. Slow, rash decision making and positionally suspect. He plays on the edge but he leaves himself no margin for error, and when he does error, he hasn't got the pace to recover.

 

Should be Souttar and Soyuncu for the rest of the season.

He's definitely a championship centre back. Can have some good games but is regularly a liability.

Yep. He's been absolute cack since the world cup. Turned his back on play for the second goal whilst doing not closing down or covering the space. Disgraceful.

Don’t see what souttar has done wrong to be honest.

Issue with Souttar seemed to be when he was paired with Faes. Faes would go in for the tackle and Souttar would drop off. They'd beat Faes and there'd be no offside. Soyuncu probably has that similar tendancy to Faes which might be why both start. Wouldn't mind seeing Souttar and Soy in the next two free hits though.

Don't think it's any coincidence that no matter who we partner him with we concede goals. Positionally he's awful and all over the place. Doesn't help either that he's also quite rash in the challenge and often over commits. Needs benching asap. 

 

At the minute we need to get back to the basics of defending. Souttar despite his lack of pace needs to start. Would be tempted to switch to a back three with Amartey and Soyuncu playing either side of Souttar to provide a bit of pace should he get caught out. Also need to play a double pivot in front of the backline to stop the opposition getting a run on the CBs.

I genuinely think we are stuck with him for the next year or two, and so I just hope he is much better with a hard working midfield in front of him.
