It might sound weird but I don't think it actually matters that much who comes in (as long as their appointment is contingent on them promising to drop Ward). When you're at rock bottom you don't need a tactical or motivational genius to inspire an improvement. Bournemouth have taken 5 points from 3 games under Gary O'Neil, Man Utd went on an absurd run under Solskjaer, Shakespeare won something like 50% of his games as caretaker and took us from a relegation battle to a safe mid-table finish.

 

The more important appointment in the medium to long term imo would be a top-class sporting director or equivalent. We have seen with Rodgers what can happen when you give the manager too much power and allow them to start taking control of things like recruitment and medical staff, and between the results and performances on the pitch, the inactivity off it, our recent transfer business and the insane contracts we've handed out to dross, I think the evidence is mounting that Rudkin is well out of his depth in his dual role as both director of football and academy director. Considering our resources relative to some of the competition, they are arguably the two most important positions at the club.

I think we need someone who can command a dressing room, I always thought Brendan was someone who was able to really command respect but that's just from seeing him when he's at other clubs where you only see the media side of him, but now that i've watched him for multiple years now, it feels to me like he would more than likely come across to players as someone who is quite arrogant or has an ego problem, almost as if he should be respected because he is Brendan Rodgers, rather than respect him because he's the boss and represents the club.

We need someone who can come in an steady the ship quickly and who we can trust to spend a bit of the Fofana money in January to ensure we move up the table rapidly.

So far we've messed up the goalkeeper situation, messed up signings/selling players and now we're messing up sacking the manager...what makes anyone think we won't mess up replacing Rodgers?

Looks like Brighton are going for Roberto De Zerbi....then maybe their preferred choice last week Franck Haise is waiting for the Leicester job becoming available shortly, wouldn't mind him here considering we have so many French speaking players

I think both would. Prefer Fischer.

Benitez only took over in March that year and nearly kept Newcastle up, then won promotion the following season and had two respectable seasons in the Premier League, given the shoestring budget he was given by Mike Ashley.

 

Wouldn't be my personal choice, but seems like he ticks quite a few boxes that the Board like. He has a not dissimilar pedigree to Ranieri.
