He is a sublime footballer. He has the ability to slow down the game for himself, as seen today and a couple of seasons  ago against Brighton with the chipped finish. Whereas, last week the outstanding pass to Tete was done in one quick fluid movement.

Fact is as soon as Brendan got the players (as requested for 12 months) to play Kel he didn't hesitate to put him in the eleven. The rubbish about him "hating" Ihaenacho has always been hyperbole. Brendans man management has been part of the reason Kel has been able to hit the ground running.

That’s not true though is it, he would drop him at the drop of a hat if we had other strikers in any kind of form, just like he did after a good run of games during COVID. Vardy and Daka are so out of form that he’s had no choice to play him, so he doesn’t deserve any kind of plaudits. The fact that Kel has only really been picked for cup games up until now shows that he is an afterthought and a backup player in Rodgers’ mind.

Typical ahistorical nonsense. Kel's form for 3 months in 2021 was down to the formation we played to suit him and we only played that because Barne's was out. Vardy had to essentially do his running for him which is borne out in his assist statistics. Either some medium term memory or a modicum of football knowledge would help you reach the same conclusion but you obviously lack anything of the sort.

Brendan has been backed for years and had Kels on the squad and never played him as much as he should have.

After his great run Rodgers bought Daka and automatically placed him higher on the strikers list.

Sorry but that's balls. He scored a ton last time he got into the team and then was out as soon as there was a slight reason for Brendan to do so.

He scored because he had a system in the 3-5-2 late that season that suited him. We now have another system that suits him with Barnes and Tete playing in behind. Added to that we don't have to play three at the back like we did before. This really isn't rocket science lads.

He was crap,couldn’t control a ball for a toffee,too late on runs,stumbled over his own feet, lazy,like Barnes,on getting back on side,ruined great created chances….

Couldnt lead the line…1 out of 5 only decent performances.
 

Then last season his cup run games, odd PL outing,this lost in the wilderness man- boy,developed late and is now maturing.

IMO should have been involved as first choice, a lot earlier,because of Vardy misfiring…& Daka not trusted to be paired with him.

Now a CF who can lead the line,or has the game to hang 10 metres back…

Rodgers timing somewhat miscued or misscrewed, that happens,but Nacho has.slammed not thrown his cards on the table,stayed humble and this time denies any manager to drop him…

arrived…Well done Lad,you have earnt & grown into the plaudits…but never forget, you made it hard on yourself,and the guys, manager who need you.Many of us still believed you could,but it seems you doubted yourself for more than awhile..

 Could grow into a Vardy legend status if he stays more years, he is no longer a niche player,but a fully flying Nigerian,full blooded Eagle & CF..

So you are confirming that he is an afterthought and only played because Barnes was out. As soon as Barnes was fit, he was undeservedly dropped. Talk about knocking the boys confidence. Whenever he’s had a run in the side he’s provided goals and assists but has still found himself out of favour whenever Rodgers’ favourites are fit.

Look at his goal contributions per 90 since that run and they're still excellent, even when he's played on his own. I don't think anybody's claiming that he could have done the Vardy role but I for one have been saying that he can be excellent up there, with runners beyond. Regardless, he performed so well that the manager had to find a way to get him in the team, and he failed to do so. Would play well and Rodgers would dig him out and drop him. None of us know if that was could man management but from the outside looking in, it appears very odd.

They should have tried him as a lone striker. Unfair to say he only succeeds in a 2 striker system.

I've watched mostly all games since vardy if we use that as a cut off line either online or at kp and there's no possible comparison between them... ps. I've no doubt you have a pretty face 😉

 

I hope Kel doesn't get dropped now in this formation and with new players, but with the squad rebuild and shifting players on then who knows what will happen.

Quite right…the natural movement of squad will first stay interesting but also a interesting mystery…

Hes key to us playing this new formation. He's the only striker we have who can drop back and link play. He plays almost as a false 9 at times.

 

With the right players around him he's a big problem for defences.
