Excellent post.

So the cream of Leicestershire are a top 10 league 1 team I reckon, Midfield strong, Attack good for that level, but GK and defence extremely ropey.

Top 10 league 1 team!?

Barnes, Adams, KDH, Moore etc woukd blitz league 1

Sorry but your previous quote is totally deluded. With luck that squad would finish above the Championship relegation places and not much more, and I doubt they'd get out of league 1. As for competing in Euro qualifiers enough said 😂😂

Bit of silliness in the spirit of international football season.

The County of Leicestershire has declared it's independence from the United Kingdom and annexed the City of Leicester as it's capital, founding the Republic of Leicestershire.

Naturally, as a major sporting centre of the British Isles, setting up a new national football team is top priority and you've just been hired as it's first ever manager. You're tasked with building a 25 man squad to qualify for the upcoming EURO 2024 tournament.

Qualification rules are fairly standard. Players born in Leicester/shire qualify automatically (eg Luke Thomas) as do those whose parents or grandparents were born here (eg Harvey Barnes, Jaden Heskey), you can also select "naturalised" Leicestershire citizens who were raised/educated here for a period of five years or more before the age of 21 (eg Richard Stearman, Ben Chilwell, etc.) FIFA is offering the opportunity for any currently capped players who meet the above criteria to change allegiance.

Finally, as per FIFA eligibility criteria, anyone who has lived in Leicester for over 5 years after the age of 18 but who is not currently internationally capped can qualify (eg Marc Albrighton.)

So, who is in your 25? Who is your starting 11? Who is the captain of the national side and, finally, do you think you're good enough to qualify?

Northern Ireland qualified for Euro 2016, their squad is comprised primarily of Championship standard and worse players.

Barnes is in course for 15 Premier League goals currently, Adams scored 20+ last time he was in the championship and is good for ~ 10 PL goals. KDH and Choudhury would be the best midfield partnership in the championship.

Moore’s played in the PL and is at the very least a mid table championship player. Knight and Harding are lower end Championship player.

Thomas is a PL level LB. The only huge weakness would be the keeper and Sharman-Lowe looks as if he’s at least league standard.

24 teams qualify for the Euros and that side is better than Cyprus, Moldova, Belarus, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Andorra, Malta etc.

I’m not saying they’d qualify but they’d easily get 10 points in a European qualification group.

Are you talking about Elliot or Liam Moore? I don’t think Elliot has played in the Prem. Liam plays for Jamaica.

Liam. In this hypothetical scenario the players play for Leicestershire

                Sharman-Lowe
          Moore Hamza Knight

Albrighton  Braybrooke  Chilwell

                 Alves KDH

              Addams Barnes

Chilwell and Barnes hate each other though so maybe use Thomas.

Reckon you'd have Stearman in the squad for the experience he brings. Chilwell would be roundly booed any time he touched the ball so we'll leave him in the international wilderness.

I've got Carl Muggleton down as our emergency third keeper based on his form from when our Masters team was shit hot.

Tommy Wright's now playing international level police football if we're desperate...

That's probably a fair comment, maybe I am overestimating how strong the European minnows are!

Still think a Leicestershire XI would struggle in the Championship mind, some good players there of course and the starting eleven could probably beat a good number of teams in that league on their day but very little strength in depth.
