Married TV presenter. As much as he probably hasn't done anything technically illegal he's still cheating on his wife which is a shitty thing to do.

This of course assumes that the partner/wife doesnt know and or doesnt approve.

If it was off OnlyFans and the presenter in question had no idea they were under 18 (if they even were, they claim otherwise) then the scandal is on OF anyway really and we've technically already had that story and they've supposedly tightened up their verification since.

And if they weren't under 18 then all we really have is "guy looks at teen porn." If we find that creepy then we should probably stop fetishising and sexualising teenagers as a society en masse as a multi billion (trillion?) dollar global industry.

The Sun especially have no place trying to act as moral arbiters on that front with their creepy and disgusting count downs til female celebrities turn 16 and their history of appallingly young photoshoots one step away from the mass distribution of child porn.

Dan Walker reckons there'll be a relevation on the late news tonight, according to his Twitter.

Edit: Apologies; had read it again and he was referring to last nights' report and not laters'.

Reckon The Sun is either making some of the things up; or is holding key evidence back for some reason.

I suspect the bbc presenter had one of those as well...

The Sun had a the 20 year olds denial before the published it.  How ridiculous.  I hope he somehow manages to sue them.

They didn't name him so he won't be able to sue them. Their lawyers would have been all over this story before they published it - however cynical and exploitative the story might be, it almost certainly does not break any rules.

It’s the media propagating this as a frontline news story.. There are much more important events going on in the world right now. The British media is generally a cesspit.

Yes it’s front page alright ..  here’s the front page of the Telegraph ..  and they actually carry on this BBC theme with an article on page 3 showing our Gary as the top earner ..  again.   BBC in general obviously a hot topic at the moment ..

And yet there's ten pages of posts on the topic by people who deplore the voyeuristic nature of the story whilst at the same time obsessing over it. This (non) story has had more interest than pretty much anything out in this thread over the last year since Schofield. Spot the pattern...

It’s people reacting/responding to the latest tittle tattle that isn’t really newsworthy. The media set the agenda

I think it's a bit of both: the media "rags" tell people what they want to hear and that sells, but through specific framing and sensationalism they can also manufacture and manipulate that want to a degree too.

Either way, the truth be damned.

If every BBC presenter who isn't the person involved states publicly that they aren't the one, as Jeremy Vine, Gary Lineker et al have done, then presumably the privacy laws will be circumvented by the public using a spot of logic to work out who it must be. To me, this story feels like a game where someone tells everyone else that they've got a big secret, but they won't reveal it. Simply by telling folk you've got a big secret is surely the first step to it be discovered, one way or another. The secret of keeping a secret secret is to keep quiet about having the secret.

Tbf we can’t talk about politics on here, so we can’t talk about genuine news stories. This is all we have…

BBC BREAKING NEWS

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command have now concluded their assessment and have determined there is no information to indicate that a criminal offence has been committed.

Huw Edwards named as presenter by his wife

Vicky Flind, the wife of news reader Huw Edwards, has named him as the BBC presenter facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images in a statement issued on his behalf.

In her statement, Vicky Flind said her husband Huw Edwards was "suffering from serious mental health issues" and is now "receiving in-patient hospital care where he will stay for the foreseeable future" as she asked for privacy for her family.

Now even @Wymsey knows who it is !

I did think the other week if he was OK, as hadn't seen him for ages.

I know he said in the past that he suffered from mental health issues.
