I mean, for what it's worth, I do think it's somewhat creepy being a 50/60 year old and having a sexual fascination with 19/20 year olds. And he could have been on pornhub getting his rocks off anonymously and nobody would care but OnlyFans is succesful because of the personal connection "fans" feel like they get from creators, so it is somewhat uncomfortable.

But no less uncomfortable than the countless celebrities, musicians, politicians, billionaires etc who are well in to middle age trotting round hand in hand with student-aged eye candy. Eh, Leo?

I think it's somewhat creepy, but as you say no less so than numerous other examples, and more importantly as long as it's consenting and adult it's none of my damn business anyway.

I'm certainly not going to judge the guy or advo for any kind of punitive action, workplace or otherwise, based on that judgement. That's just distasteful curtain twitching bollocks IMO.

I would probably got with yes on that lol and especially for a 60 year old bloke eyeing up people sexually old enough to be their grandchildren but that’s another discussion but is there not more than that though? Cause I keep seeing this geezers arse all over twitter so there was clearly some form of communication back and forth?

I think for someone like Huw Edwards who’s quite widely respected and very much the voice of a lot of peoples daily intake for news, it would’ve been a story regardless. Especially with the family angle, it’s probably be more sensationalised because he’s closeted though

People just get off on sordid gossip, it'll be trending for a while and then it'll go one of three ways I guess.

Either:

1. The news cycle will throw up something more interesting and we'll all forget about it. He'll take a sabbatical and be back on air once he's got his head straight.

2. He'll hire a good lawyer and PR firm who will absolutely eviscerate the Sun and ramp up enormous amounts of public sympathy, poor Huw, got outed by a scummy tabloid, wrecked his mental health, etc.

3. The Sun will go on the offensive desperately scouring every ounce of his private life eager to find dirt they can fling so that they can save themselves by pointing out he was a scumbag all along and they exposed him. They've kinda already tried doing this. You knew they knew they were in trouble having gotten the under age bit wrong when they started clutching at straws with the rubbish about "he swore at me on a dating app boo hoo."

:dunno:

Given how quickly these things happen, I think if a flood of other people with a Huw Edwards story were waiting in the wings we'd probably know already. So I'm guessing a mix of 1 and 2 personally.

Oh ok, so he’s just a dirty perv but nothing illegal seems to be at play here then? So is this a bit of a scofield part 2 just that huw didn’t abuse his power

Definitely dirty old man vibes but if, and it’s currently only an assumption it was via OF, then HE obviously thought the lad was 18 and that's legal. Morally questionable, certainly, and you'd be fairly outraged if your 17 or 18 yo son or daughter was selling nude pics to some 60+ old person online.

Schofe was interacting and befriending U16's, got one a job/work experience and then had sex with him. I'm still surprised, given the number of incidents out there of him interacting with U16's on the web, and drama schools, that the police haven't looked at him more closely.

Yeah it does seem incredibly dodgy, that’s the bit I don’t get, cause his arse is about this must have been some form of mutual communication back and forth or is that a thing of paying kids to view your arse.

like for me, from the outside looking in as I’m not in the country atm I’m a bit confused how big this has gotten, I’m either leaning that there’s more to this and it’ll come in in the coming days ala schofield or this story gained so much traction to what has been a damp fart of a climax because when initially reported it was reported as an anonymous employee, which would usually indicate that they can’t be named because there’s a serious criminal investigation going. Or option C it’s getting bigger and bigger because it’s becoming more about bankrupt the sun vs the defund bbc people rather than the actual story

Maybe they are?  Maybe they want to investigate this sort of thing away from the full glare of the media.  Time will tell

I genuinely have no idea if it's a thing.

As for why it's so big, options B and C. The initial reporting of illegal activity started it.

So it appears the Sun may have gotten themselves in. Bit of trouble with perhaps not being quite as truthful with their opening story as they should have been…

who’d have thought it eh!

One of the biggest mysteries of the 21st century is why people still read The Sun, after decades of negativity towards it (no, please don't mention the 'page 3' element..:P)..

Which is bizarrely why the stigma attached to the likes of Only Fans is slightly misplaced. Financially it's more ethical and easier to exit for the sex workers for example.

I, too, cannot understand why folk buy this rag or read it online. They personify the headline grabbing gutter press they really are.

Au contraire, those who attach such a stigma are placing it exactly as they wish and intend.

They want their own views on sex and sexual activity to be the predominant one and therefore those who engage in "alternative" courses of action should be made to suffer, so they'll target OF exactly because it makes things easier for those they think are behaving "morally wrong".

The sooner they no longer have the political or media power to impose such views and get others buying into it, the better.

We have our very own thread on this forum where it could be said that exactly this behaviour is displayed, depending how sexual fascination is defined

Always a shame to be reminded of the existence of Rod Liddle

I remember a somewhat challenging phase when FT general chat was a lot more right wing than it is now, and one of the highlights of that was the posting of a surprising amount of Rod Liddle content
