They've kinda already tried doing this. You knew they knew they were in trouble having gotten the under age bit wrong when they started clutching at straws with the rubbish about "he swore at me on a dating app boo hoo." Given how quickly these things happen, I think if a flood of other people with a Huw Edwards story were waiting in the wings we'd probably know already. So I'm guessing a mix of 1 and 2 personally.
