Totally, read a lot of comments on Twitter and they are much more reactionary than that. Twitter's dead!! Much like the comments on here when the club ban sandwiches or something equally pathetic. Club's dead mate shambles mate!!!!

Ain't that the damn truth.

Horrible story aside, in general E-scooters are absolutely fantastic.

I'm a regular in Northampton and Milton Keynes in which the majority of the urban area is covered by these and use them often to get around. Many towns around the Northamptonshire / Bedfordshire have adopted the trials.

In Northampton, Kettering and Wellingborough they have to be ridden either on the road or cycle paths, otherwise your account just gets revoked which IS linked to your driving license. Milton Keynes they're a little more lax simply because of MK's huge footpath network.

Agree that some legislation probably needs to be clarified, and residents get fed up with them being left everywhere - but, IMO they're a great, clean, fun way to get around.

Same rule applies to any vehicle, motorised or not... Just don't act like a twat and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, as we see in all walks of life, the don't act like a twat and we'll all be fine approach doesn't work. There are too many twats about.

Yep. Twats in cars. Twats on motorcycles. Twats on bicycles. Some twats walk, and some twats run.

We should all probably stay at home and let all the twats have huge twat-pileups then then we can travel safely knowing there are no more twats about.

Exactly this,  there are around 2k deaths on UK roads each year,  nearly all at the hands of twats driving fully taxed and insured motor vehicle. But it is the twats that ride untaxed unlicensed bikes/scooters that are the problem.

Good news ..  a whole drug gang are now behind bars ..  reasonable sentences handed out with several including Kismet Memis and Arland Rexhat getting 6 years and Besfort Agaj getting 8. Not sure how they got into the country from Albania but could well be linked to a small boat trip.  Allegedly L1neker is up in arms about it and has offered his celebrity lawyer (foc) to contest the case on the basis that they are all minors and too young to be charged ..  who knows ..  if he’s does get them off Gaza might just put them up for a bit as they are all classed as ‘no fixed abode’.

Horrible way to treat some of the most vulnerable people in the world imo.

There being a greater problem elsewhere doesn't mean that e-scooters aren't a problem. This was in specific relation to recent news article about e-scooters, not a declaration that e-scooters are the cause of all the world's problems.

Definitly not,  but if you are going to post on a forum about problems on the roads perhaps it would make more sense to talk about the issues that course the most problems rather than those that barely register as a problem in ther real world.

This is the in the news thread, you want the "what has annoyed in the roads today thread"

clearly, not every single person arriving here in the UK is a criminal drug lord...   So in the interests of having some humanity, I fully support what Lineker said.

The most shocking thing for me is the Mercury is now £1.40!

The most hilarious thing about this whole depressing saga is how the government and various right-wing gobshites are trying to make out Lineker's further left than Corbyn politically. He's about the wettest Centrist going.

If that doesn't show you how dangerous what's happening to him is, nothing will.

Possibly sailing close to the politics wind here but whatever...  JOB hardly a lefty.

I do not always agree with what he has to say but it still is a free society so he should be able to voice an opinion on what the government is doing, you do not have to listen to him if you do not like what he says.

Won't hold my breath...

Cancel culture is a disgrace but that bloke who said something I disagree with should be sacked.

Let’s face it he’s simply being targeted to sweep the real story under the carpet and the fake outrage from MPs and the like only heightens it.  If you really think he has to remain impartial because he presents MotD then you’ve lost all sense of reality.  Ironically those quick to throw around the “snowflake” as a criticism are exactly the type getting worked up about this.  Excellently effective deflection tactics really (but unfortunately damning of our society nowadays).

Spot on.  There are no bigger snowflakes than those who coined the term.
