No need for apologies! It's your (as a collective) time and i'm sure everyone can appreciate that!

A lot are in the same boat. 

Just takes a quick look through other threads and the amount of contempt and lack of interest is growing season upon season.

 

Don't think it's just our club either, a scan across football twitter posts or other forums and you'll see a huge number of people becoming tired of the modern game.

 

VAR, FFP, Cheating/Rule avoidance and Price increases are all issues pushing fans out of the game.

I love my club always have and always will but have to say at this moment I have never felt so disengaged and disconnected not to the club but to the people who own and run our club. 
 

We have just been promoted and this pre season should be one of optimism and excitement and yet it just feels so meh and uninspiring with a significant points deduction on the horizon due to financial mismanagement and ineptitude of fairly epic proportions. 
 

The fanbase are becoming nothing.more than just paying customers that the commercial decision makers continually look for new ways to bleed dry, as shown with the season ticket card and then charging £10 to watch a pretty meaningless pre season friendly. 
 

To go from a club that was pretty much the envy of every club for how we operated both on and off the pitch to what we have now become, makes me sick to my stomach.
 

I will never turn my back on Leicester City Football Club it is in my blood, bit the club in its current guise no longer relates to the club just a handful of seasons ago let alone the one I grew up supporting.
 

Top needs to wake up and take a long hard look at the direction of travel, his family have proven in the past that they have the basis and formula that creates an atmosphere of togetherness and one where the fanbase feels connected and valued.
 

Too many decisions made at the moment are reactionary following negative feedback, he needs to employ people who have the ability to recognise the type of decisions that will create negative reactions and not make them, rather than having to somewhat backtrack retrospectively, to try and repair the damage. 
 

Top, Whelan and Rudkin are so stale and the club needs a revamp, fresh ideas and innovative management to create new revenue streams that doesn’t rely on bleeding the fanbase of every last penny whilst creating a vulture where failure is accepted and rewarded through blind loyalty.

The club continues to become more and more of a closed shop offering nothing more than lip service to the numerous fan groups. Top referred to being a mere custodian and it will always be our club, at this moment in time that comment couldn’t be further from the truth.

I think I could tolerate the flaws that surround the club if I felt that there was a real collective effort to overcome them, but I increasingly just think I'm in a minority far greater than many of us truly appreciate. I think this forum could be seen to a very large proportion of fans of ours that are not on here as complete insanity and what I mean by that is those in favour of the ownership etc... they cannot comprehend that people could feel the way many on here actually do.

 

I just feel it's all a bit hopeless. We're a club where the majority of the good nowadays is the residue from our previously strong era which people incorrectly attribute the success of to those currently in charge. To top it off we have utterly terrible fan engagement and I think my types they would happily do away with if they could get away with it.

 

Since covid I made more of a conscious effort to increase the social side of football and I've hit a point where that's about the only thing keeping me genuinely interested. Part of it I think is age and the fact we've seen so much that how can you ever truly entertain or stimulate our fans again? But then at the same time there are still things in football that truly get to me and I think that it hasn't completely gone for me yet. Yet there's just something with us these days, there's a hopelessness about it all. I can't really explain it. I think we're in a bad way, in a terrible vicious cycle and our fans have demonstrated they will do nothing to change this as there's simply not the acknowledgment of the issues that I think should be totally obvious.

 

I thought it even during the friendlies. I went to both simply for the new ground but I had so little interest even by friendlies standards. Just stood chatting for the majority of it. Something's really off here. I feel a bit trapped.

This pod resonated with me deeply.

 

It was interesting hearing Ric talking about neurological programming in respect of gambling.  One of the insidious things about the way the club is being run is the ownership know full well that lifelong fans, fans whose parents and grandparents perhaps supported Leicester, find it very hard to simply stop following.  It's very much part of your personal identity beyond simply a sports club.  

 

They continue to make decisions which I find bizarre and at times outrageous but I'll still be watching next season.... Unless we sign Ayew.

Ruddy brilliant listen. All points are totally agreeable to most of us I would think. Beyond a shit show on all fronts really, even down to the kit which is disgusting.

 

On the Ayew link - yes I’d prefer to go elsewhere, and his goals/assists record is dire, but he does know how to scrap and survive in an unfancied team. I’m NOT shouting from the rooftops about him, but I don’t think it’s bad as being made out by many. More of an Elvis Hammond than a Marko Futacs if that makes any sense? 

 

Special shout out to the South Lakes Safari Zoo if anyone’s ever up Barrow way as well!

I was listening to the first few minutes of this when my train was pulling into Paddington this morning. Somehow I accidently skipped forwards and it landed right in the middle of Ric's rant about our lack of transfer activity. I was laughing out loud at one point, which was good timing as a few seconds later I discovered that the Elizabeth Line was down and I was going to miss my 9am meeting with my boss. However by that point I was far more bothered about our failure to land Albert Gronbaek than I was about any of the projects I'm working on...

Great to have the pod back! I burst out laughing when Jord predicted we'd finish at the bottom—set the tone for the rest of the episode that did. Can’t blame him with how the club's being run though. Totally agree about the hideous sponsor and away shirt—i wouldn't be seen dead wearing that either. Bobby Reid, Okoli, and Golding seem like solid signings to me but as Cooper said, we're not Premier League ready. We still need to replace KDH and add quality in the final third, and with only a few weeks until the opener, we need to act fast.

Totally agree about Ayew, I put it on one of the now deleted threads about him - 25 goals in 274 appearances with even less assists, he’ll also be 33 in September.

Completely get why some of you feel the way you do. I feel like I can separate my support for the lads from the bellends who run the club but I completely get why some of you can't or won't. 

 

I'm still angry about how we got in all this mess and I am even more angry at the attitude of the likes of Top, Susan and the rest. You can absolutely guarantee any criticism would have been met with an attitude of we won you the league and FA Cup how dare you criticise us. That arrogance led them all the way to a relegation they never dreamt would possibly happen to them. 

 

After getting away with it again. And they have. We almost ****ed everything up with the most expensive ever championship squad. They could have gone 2 ways. Thank their lucky stars and do everything they can to make up for their errors or count it as nothing more than a blip in the road and look at each other like they're geniuses for a promotion. The open top bus full of Thai influencers gives you the answer to that one.

 

Its still rotten to the core and I fear it will be now until Top leaves. Which will be pretty soon.
