Newcastle (A) - EFL Cup - Match Thread

I seriously wonder what ****ing instructions BR is giving before kick off.

"Right lads, we don't need to win this so just make sure you sit deep and keep it going sideways at the back. I don't want anybody taking any risks and going forward. The only win we need is most passing and possession."

Like what actually is our gameplan? We are absolutely shocking.

In fairness we're deliberately letting them have the ball up to our box. It's not pretty but it's our tactics for the game.

We're hoping to catch them on the break.

Literally zero chance of us scoring on the break

We can't even get possession, let alone pass the ball sideways or backwards!

We're just so slow.

I don't even mean in possession, I just mean everyone is so slow.

Why? They didn't used to be.

We took everyone off the PEDS.

We couldn’t afford them, whilst trying to comply with FFP.

Is it extra time and penalties?

Not that they won’t score. They’ve had 3 chances so far

The announcer on my ESPN+ stream specified before the match -- no extra time, straight to penalties if needed.

Same reason we have so many injuries. Training methods arent up to scratch.
