True and true. I hope we not still waiting for someone to go (Cags?) and are just tire kicking with Gonzalez at the moment. We need players in and investing too much (time and money) on one player could end up shooting ourselves in the foot (again?)

.. I  would believe there are other irons in the fire and we are working to get them over the line!!!

I would suspect the delay on the stadium build might have afforded us some revenue to spend in this window. The loan may have been earmarked for infrastructure spending but by creative accounting it could be moved to finance on pitch acquisitions.

Find this very strange are we really going to spend pretty much all the money we have on an injured left winger? At the very least surely we should be going for a natural right winger. Why do we persist of playing people out of position. Is this classic Rodgers flexing his ego?

Who aren't Chelsea looking at and I think we'll end up paying more than 30m for Gonzalez as well. Madueke has a higher ceiling and resale value, would be worth the extra outlay.

...we really cannot go down that road, Madueke has had his problems with injuries and is working his way back into the team!!!

We cannot afford to take that gamble, especially when Tsygankov is available as well as Tete.

We do not want to panic now, we need to spend wisely.

Worried about this. Big fee, big wages, injury prone and according to Fiorentina fans he is better on the left than the right. Doesn't seem like the solution we need given all of our current issues.

Would rather we spent 30m on Madueke if we were looking to spend big.

If you don’t like Gonzalez because he’s injury prone, just wait until you find out about Madueke. lol

Good review in the Athletic on what he could give the team - standouts are dribbling, heading and defensive tracking, as well as his goalscoring record:

Pretty good, but hardly brilliant stats when healthy:

Plays all three forward positions in a 4-3-3 (helloooo Brendan).  Good at carrying the ball and receiving it near the box on the turn.  Not much end product from either his passing or his many successful dribbles.  But finishes when he is in position.  Likes to attack the back post for headers.  Defends hard.

Looks a bit more like a Maddison than Mahrez replacement.  But not really either.  ... And off the damaged-goods pile.  But apparently not marked down.

This  is the new, budget-friendly Leicester City.  Filling two holes with one player.  Who can play about a third of the time.

If you have the Athletic, read it, it’s more a Carey than Tanner article.

Most decent players we try to sign will have options - they aren’t coming to us if we won’t match what snowmen else is willing to pay them

the younger targets are always better value for money cos you pay them a lot less

All players have options, Most want to come to play in the Premiership so the Salary isn't the most important as they will be earning more here anyway. If they are half decent we are one of the few options they have outside of the Top Clubs.

For Clubs like us it's about providing the opportunity, Then if they deliver they can pick up incentives , Boosing their salary even further.

Young players are the way to go for clubs like us. Less risk in the outlay and a bigger upside when we sell on.

You just have to make sure the person doing the choosing knows what they are doing.

He also won the most fouls per 90 minutes in Serie A that season. We need someone like him to take the pressure off Maddison (and to replace that ability to win fouls when Madders leaves) and to free up space for Barnes.

Got to admit, him being strong in the air is a very exciting prospect. It's something we completely lack going forwards as a team so could really open up a new dimension of play for us.

Whether it's back post crosses or just using him as a way to escape a high press or straight from a goal kick (similar to how KDH got his goal against Liverpool), it could really stretch the opposition and give the likes of Daka/Vardy the space to run in behind.

Not even sure he can be classed as 'injury prone'. Missed some time in his final season for Stuttgart and then this this recent injury with Fiorentina are the only significant spells out that I can see.

Don’t go giving people reason to be optimistic!!

Not sure he should be classed as a left winger.. according to Transfermrkt:

2022/23 - 7xRW, 1xLW, 1xST

2021/22 - 18xRW, 17 xLW, 1x ST

So whilst he’s not exclusively a RW (he’s able to cover all 3 front positions) he can and more often than not, over the last 2 years has been predominantly a left footed, right winger.

I think people really overestimate the value of youth, nobody is buying a young player from us for a big fee if they are bad, same way they wouldn't buy an old player for us if they're bad. Our money has come from selling both old and young players
