Simply he’s about as poor as any other player in our squad at the moment bar Maddison, it’s not about defending him it’s about looking at the bigger picture that something is very wrong with the set up of this team at the moment and the way they are managed. To judge any player under this manager just isn’t right. The system and style of play just does not suit this team and the players we have.

That's fine. But read others posts, it's not just people saying "ok he's not been great, but I'm willing to give him another chance when the manager changes". There's plenty on here who keep saying he's a good player, several always using the argument of his 4 goals against a bottom half Russian league side, then changing their argument from "he's a good finisher, but getting no service, it's not his fault" to "he makes stuff happen and has chances, but can't finish" to try and defend him. The point is there's zero evidence so far that he's going to suddenly start scoring when "the system" changes, but plenty on here keep asserting he's a good player just being misused and then using contradicting arguments as to why he's shown himself to be a good player.

What on earth

He over plays when in defence and gives the ball away when a boot out will do. When he picks up the ball and advances, he slows down more times than often and will just pass the ball to the side or back killing any attacking intent. Did you see him run around in a circle when he had players to pass to in front. He has terrible ball control when he receives it.
