Looking at players from Belgium & Holland could be an ideal route to go down, along with clubs from leagues like Austria, Denmark, Switzerland who have competed in the Champions League or Europa League over the past year. 
 

As for potential targets from the Championship though, West Brom’s parachute payments have ran out and they’ll need to sell some players. Dara O’Shea, Okay Yokuslu & Jayson Molumby would be welcome additions, especially if we get a possession based manager.

both good championship players and exactly what we need with a big rebuild. We’re going to have to loan a few.

Clarke is not on loan from Spurs, he's signed for Sunderland now!

you’d think if man u wanted to loan him again, he would just go back to sunderland 🤷‍♂️

Norwood - No

Manning - Don’t know much about him

Akpom - Depends if Boro go up and might get a prem move anyways

Mcburnie - Meh but he’s a shithouse like Vardy

Pukki - Scores goals but is quite limited unless the teams built specifically around him

Ward - no

Tuanzebe - As long as he can stay injury free 100%

We'll definitely need a whole new midfield and wingers in the Championship so we should be looking to pluck the best younger players who are already doing it at that level from mid-table teams like:

 

Ilias Chair

Jack Clarke

Chris Willock

Tyrese Campbell

Tahith Chong

Adam Wharton

Regan Slater

Zian Flemming

Billy Mitchell

Gabriel Sara

I just looked at the out of contract list for the summer and I got REAL concerned. We NEED to get recruitment right this summer and seeing names like Ryan Kent, Tom Davies, Nathan Redmond, Jesse Lingard, Ross Barkley and Jeff Schlupp has put some ice in my veins.

Just looking at Transfermarkt for possible signings (take their Values with a pinch of salt lol) assuming we'll have to do a near-total rebuild in the Championship

 

CB:
Tomás Araújo (Gil Vicente, on loan from Benfica), contract end 2026, Transfermarkt Value €3m - Centre back with excellent technical skills, confident at taking on opponents with the ball at his feet, judging by a youtube skills compilation he looks quality (but then again who doesn't? 😂). Could see Benfica wanting him to progress to a team of our stature for next season rather than a bottom-third team in the Portuguese League.

Robert Atkinson (Bristol City), 24yo, CE 2026, Transfermarkt Value €2.5m - left-footed 6'4" tall centre half. Only just signed a new contract though so might command a pretty penny.

Michal Helik (Huddersfield), 27yo, CE 2025, Transfermarkt Value €3m - similar to Atkinson, 6'3" tall centre back, but also only joined this season from Barnsley.

Mads Anderson (Barnsley), 25yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €2.2m - League One Team of the Season player, 6'4" and Danish but surely miles better than Vestergaard

Eiran Cashin (Derby), 21yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €1.2m - another one of League One's best players this season

 

RB:
Costinha (Rio Ave), 23yo, CE 2026, Transfermarkt Value €1.5m - possible Ricardo replacement? Played most of this season at right wing back in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation. Rated very strong at Tackling and Blocking the ball by Whoscored. Likes to tackle, likes to cross and commits fouls often, perfect for the Championship!

Trai Hume (Sunderland), 21yo, CE 2026, Transfermarkt Value €350k - named in Championship Team of the Season and picked up 2G/2A this campaign.

Cyrus Christie (Hull), 30yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €1.2m - the kind of experienced journeyman player every Championship team needs.

Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel (Blackpool), 24yo, CE 2025, Transfermarkt Value €1m - stand-out player in a Blackpool side who were relegated. His crossing and passing look to be weak points though.

LB:
Ryan Manning (Swansea), 26yo, CE 2023, Transfermarkt Value €2.5m - versatile left back/left wing back if Castagne/Kristiansen leave, can play as a winger as well.

Cameron Pring (Bristol City), 25yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €400k - also versatile, and has played at centre back a lot this season.

 

DM:
Florian Grillitsch (Ajax), 27yo, CE 2023, Transfermarkt Value €8m - Tielemans replacement? used as a substitute at Ajax and might want to move on. Can play more advanced as well or even at centre back in a pinch. Worth taking a risk on?

Okay Yokuslu (West Brom), 29yo, CE 2025, Transfermarkt Value €3m - also only joined West Brom this season so unlikely they'd want to sell but was one of the best midfielders in the Championship this season. Very strong all round defensive midfielder, would provide what we've been sorely been missing with the decline of Ndidi.

 

CM:

Matt Grimes (Swansea), 27yo, CE 2025, Transfermarkt Value €7m - possible Tielemans replacement? Good playmaker at Championship level.
Josh Eccles (Coventry), 23yo, CE 2027, Transfermarkt Value €300k - one to go for if Coventry don't go up. Whoscored rates him highly at Tackling, Holding onto the ball, Blocking the ball and Ball interception, but weak at passing (similar to KDH, perhaps?)

Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough), 20yo, CE 2026, Transfermarkt Value €2m - only 20 and already looks really good. 3 goals and 4 assists this season. Potential PL player

 

RW:
Romain Del Castillo (Brest), 27yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €3m - also used as a substitute this season (24 appearances averaging 51 minutes per game), but he's scored 6 goals and assisted 7 in only 1200 minutes in Ligue 1. Left footed right winger who can also play on the left, seems like the kind of player profile we love. Whoscored lists his crossing as very strong, and finishing, set pieces, key passes and defensive contribution as strong. Also quite versatile, seemingly playing on both the right and left wings as well as CAM and centre mid this season.

Patrick Roberts (Sunderland), 26yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €2.5m - player we've been linked with for seemingly every single transfer window since 2017 😂 Maybe this is finally the season we'll go for him?

 

LW:
Marius Bülter (Schalke), 30yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €2.5m - experienced right-footed left winger - we'd be losing a lot of our experienced players in the summer so might be worth going for a player of his profile especially if Barnes is sold. 11 goals this season in a relegation-fighting Schalke team isn't bad.

Tyrese Campbell (Stoke), 23yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €3m - versatile forward, mostly played either at left wing or up front this season

 

CAM:
Zian Flemming (Millwall), 24yo, CE ??, Transfermarkt Value €3m - Potential Maddison replacement? Scored 15 goals in the Championship this season so demand for him will surely be high. Before that he scored 27 goals in 63 games for Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands. Can also play as a striker, and Whoscored rate his Direct Free Kicks as very strong. Only joined Millwall this season though so will probably be contracted for another year or two.

John Swift (West Brom), 27yo, CE2025, Transfermarkt Value €4.5m - Another who only joined his current club this season. Can also play CM as well as on the wing so would slot in well as a like-for-like Maddison replacement. Also a former Chelsea youth player so would have been on Rodgers' radar and would be familiar to John Terry should we keep him on.

 

ST:
Fran Navarro (Gil Vicente), 25yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €8m - scored 20 goals in all comps including 16 in the Portuguese league. Contract ends next year so presumably they'll want to cash in on him.

Joël Piroe (Swansea), 23yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €8m - similar to Navarro, scored 19 goals in the Championship and another in the FA cup, out of contract in a year so will be on the market. We'd face plenty of competition for him though

Jonson Clarke-Harris (Peterborough), 28yo, CE 2024, Transfermarkt Value €1.2m - 29 goals this season (so far - still in the L1 playoffs) and he was born in Leicester - time to bring him home?

None of them would come here but we need players like that who have had fitness and stamina drilled into them as were are so unfit

I'm extremely nervous about this summer. If the club only realised relegation was likely in the last month, it's logical to suggest they've never sat down and made a contingency transfer plan in the event of relegation. If they are doing it now, it's already too late.

 

Can't help but feel more pain is to come when it becomes patently obvious there is no real plan life in the Championship
