'Reset Everything'

Recommended Posts

Words uttered by Rodgers after last night.

Firstly, can that start with him, as the manager?

Secondly, what does this even mean? Is it just a tidbit from him, a soundbite? Is it different to a refresh...?

Thirdly, if you had to reset things (apart from Rodgers as the obvious), what would you choose as a priority?

it's his wheel of excuses again. Backed in January and embarrassed? better get the PR machine in spin and make out that the problem is he's not been able to sign a load of players. Dude started his career under Mourinho and is a mini-Mourinho through and through, always someone else's fault for the dour football

the goalkeeper

just to show that if you're consistently terrible there are consequences.

not because the alternative is dramatically better (We saw last night that Iversen is quite similar - has a howler in him for sure), but because as a matter of principle - if you're not performing to the standard required over a prolonged period of time, you have to be dropped

Its a soundbite. He was saying similar stuff after Forest last season. Its a deflection tactic designed to get people talking about anything other than his short comings. Its been 4 years, this is his team, his players and his philosophy. The 'rebuild and reset' starts with him.

The narrative is firmly set within media that he's had his team taken away from him because of no money. We know that isn't the story, but it's been set in stone.

I remember at one point in the summer only Kasper had actually departed and all day on Talksport the talking point was Leicester have lost half their squad and replaced no one. Someone did ring up at one point and say we have only lost one player and the response was yeah but Maddison and Tielemans are going at least. Neither did, yet that narrative continued willingly from Rodgers.

I'm less vociferously Brendan Out than I have been in recent times - we lost last night because our depth is non-existent, and barring the Arsenal game we have looked good recently - but I still think the overall rot does not stop until he goes, and until the players who are stinking this place out go with him.

Out in the summer (ideally):

Rodgers

Tielemans

Mendy

Soumare

Vestergaard

Bertrand

Soyuncu

Evans

Ward/Iversen - one can stay for backup.

Start the rebuild in earnest.

Unfortunately, he obviously never paid any attention to Mourinho when the subject of possession came up. Mourinho has stated it's often better to not have possession, as when you have the ball you can make a mistake and get caught out. Rodgers will watch his players repeatedly losing the ball in and around our own penalty area and tell them to carry on doing the same thing. Just letting the keepers exercise their own judgement on whether short goal kicks are a good or bad idea based on how high and how aggressively the opposition are pressing us could make a massive positive difference.

That team should have won last night. Citing depth against a championship team is not right as an excuse.

And it was only the summer ahead of the 21/22 season we were universally proclaiming we had the strongest squad depth we’ve ever had.

Obviously the signings that were made were massively underwhelming and didn’t live up to their promise but Rodgers and his team had a lot of input on that are have to be held accountable for.

Jock Wallace was the manager when I first started watching Leicester and when we were shit first half you know he would go all out ballistic at the players at half time and there would me a marked improvement second half

we look like a team in comfy slippers these days. Something has to change and that should be the manager in reality. We should have got Potter when we could have and probably Dyche but now who?

Potter if he gets sacked from Chelski perhaps?
