This is absolutely insane, I really don't know how anyone can defend this. Maybe there should be an independent investigation into BBC and their "impartiality" stance.

Mad world where an opinion results in job losses. Nothing new though. Le tiss had the same. Nasty culture were living in now where you're literally forced into having a certain opinion or your livlihood is at stake.

....I wonder how damaging one's opinion to public health needs to be before a response is warranted?

Because anti-vaxxer sentiment is potentially and sometimes actually very damaging to public health.

On the topic, I agree with the general consensus here.

Alex has already expressed solidarity with Links. Much respect for her.

Must of forgot the part where he dipped into his own pocket to help stop us going under. The man is a Leicester City legend in every sense of the word

Gary Lineker did not save Leicester City football club alone, he was just the most high profile contributor. Many of us dipped deep into our pockets, supporters like myself at the time, working minimum wage with a massive student loan. Would hope that makes all of us from 2002 Leicester city legends.

If people are taking health advice off Matt Le Tiss then lets call it Darwinism.

Honestly, it is so stupid and poisonous to have the power to end people's livelihoods for words they're saying. Not even actions. Simply words.

I'd like to think anybody with an ounce of common sense would see that.

It'd be a much better world if people were judged purely for their actions to other people rather then just hating them and ruining them for having an opposing or controversial opinion/view.

As someone who sits very much in the center it's fascinating to see people outraged and hating others to the point where they wish them to be ruined because they hold an opposing view lol

The world will be a better place when people are allowed to voice opinions without half the world baying for blood.

Be kind and respectful to people, but feel free to think how you want. People come from all sorts of backgrounds and will think differently. As long as they're decent human beings, that's really all that matters at the end of the day.

I think this sentiment is spot on apart from the Darwinism part tbh, when it comes to stuff where lots of folks can easily be harmed, viz. acts of nature.

On that, sticking to such golden rules is idealistic but I think would end horribly.

I won't go any more as I really have no more to say and would be saying the same thing in different words. I have to save that energy for the Brendan Rodgers thread :D

Always appreciate your input my man.

The government had the reserve powers in effect to take over the BBC in 2005, to broadcast whatever they want in certain emergency situations.

presume that’s still the case, so it’s nothing more than a Tory mouthpiece at this time

Murdering your own citizens and those of territories you occupy because you do not like their race, religion, sexual orientation or politics is not in anyway comparable to seeking to secure a sovereign border from unlawful entry.

In layman's terms he is a f++king idiot and deserves whatever comes his way.

He made no such comparison.  He commented that the language used by the Home Secretary was reminiscent of the German government in the 1930s to whip up the people against the “others”.  Which is clearly true.

I don’t understand the language at all.  I understand a policy of trying to stop young men coming here as economic migrants illegally.  That would be easy enough to justify.

Yeah he's a real dick putting his money where his mouth is by inviting refugees into his house and supporting those who just want a better life for themselves. Real smug of him for that.

He doesn’t seem to have them very long and why only 2 if he says it’s a wonderful experience

Gary Lineker. What a legend. What a credit to Leicester. Anyone who thinks he's overstepped his station can get stuffed.

Firstly, he's entitled to an opinion as much as anyone and no-one should be cancelled in a country proud of free speech BUT it was a stupid hyperbole to use, quite offensive to people who survived actual Nazi-ism and his smug arrogance since has shown him up for what he is - a champagne socialist, up there with the juvenile Gary Neville. He could have apologised for the wording without apologising for the sentiment but that's the ego getting in the way.

I've never bought the "one of us" shite either. From the minute he pissed off to Everton this club's been an after-thought for him. He barely mentioned us for twenty years during his career and then when we're on our knees Leicester's favourite son (and his agent) charge to the rescue. His patronising giggling about us on MOTD in recent years has just been insulting. If he stays off the air permanently I really won't give two shiny shits, MOTD is as outdated as the ban on televising 3pm kick-offs.

If we take it as a direct comparison to what Nazi Germany did later on, then this is true.

But that wasn't the comparison being made, and such things didn't just start with the ovens.

Mid 30's Germany had rather similar rhetoric about "othering" people, as has already been proven on this thread.
