Those defending Gary Lineker's rights to free speech....

Jeremy Clarkson has walked in the room.

Clarkson said he wanted a megs paraded naked through the streets to have excrement thrown at her? How does this compare. Lineker used no defamatory language at all.

Not to mention punching his producer in the face for getting his dinner order wrong.

Murdering your own citizens and those of territories you occupy because you do not like their race, religion, sexual orientation or politics is not in anyway comparable to seeking to secure a sovereign border from unlawful entry.

In layman's terms he is a f++king idiot and deserves whatever comes his way.

Spot on. A day at the Holocaust museum might educate the ignorant idiot.

Leicester legend, but a bit of a dick head.

Sorry Garry

Genuine question. Would scrapping the license fee and having the BBC go commercial/subscription be the only way to end this kind of government interference in the BBC?

No it wouldn’t be, and it wouldn’t stop it.

It would reduce government interference but increase interference of others (eg Murdoch) so some folks be careful what they wish for.

Probably the Tories ultimate aim. Be our voicepiece or face privatisation

Exactly this.

The news source would either be Channel 4 (I enjoy it but lets face it its not balanced) chav tv I mean ITV, Murdochs Sky and god forbid GB News. There would also be the emergence of another Fox News style outlet.

I hate when people describe Lineker as the ‘liberal elite’, he literally grew up between new parks and brauny whereas the ones calling him that were all too busy at oxbridge. Surely his path from nothing to rich man is the Tory dream?

Made even worse when the ones they are backing are the privately educated, never worked a real job in their lives, plumbs in their mouths, elites!

It's the same type of people who fell for Trumps 'drain the swamp' without realising he was the biggest shit in the swamp!

Yes I did plus. Not that's it's any of your business though. Plus Qatar too far to go.

Nice to see, I feel maybe we would have a lot of the same views, just from different generational points of view

Funnily enough Jeremy Clarkson wrote a column for the sun in 2011 where he said striking public sector workers should be shot in front of their families then carried on working for the BBC for 8 years finally rightly leaving when he chinned a co worker.

So clarkson isn't really the argument winner you think he is.

So it's OK to defend free speech as long as you agree with it.

Please note I'm not agree agreeing with his above mentioned comments.

Devil advocate time and a bit off topic - One thing I will say its that while I disagree with the elites pouting phrases like champagne socialism, I can sympathise with the working class or poor using it. There's a huge difference between the two as I can understand the working class and poor being told how to live their life by a rich socialite a little condensing.

This is the whole issue though, BBC have stacks of controversial people on their payroll but it fits in line with how the government is ran.

Gary is challenging that same government and they are trying to silence him

It's fascism end of

Free speech and incitement/hate speech are not the same thing though are they. The line may get blurred though, I would agree
