Got a feeling you'd be better placed putting this one in the unpopular opinions thread, I for one like WYS and I know plenty of folk wanted it before... unless you preferred that weird techno drone we used to play before matches?

Indeed an extremely unpopular opinion.. it evokes in me the same crushing depression as something like the Stereophonics doing Handbags and Gladrags, heaven help us.. well maybe not THAT bad but it is equally inane. The soundtrack to Guantanamo Bay scored by the medical staff from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Dante's 8th Circle of shite.

 

But it's a club tradition and lots of people seem to like it so what do I know? 

 

On a different note, I really miss FIRE at the KP as the goal music.. that was the best ever..

So I have seen people post over the years that they want rid of WYS, goal music, music after the game, music before the game, music too loud, clappers, singing section, honesty flags, post horn gallop music 2nd half etc…yet then complain the atmosphere is crap and it’s too quiet.

WYS when sung at its original ‘terrace’ speed from way back is not a dirge 

the version pre kick off is indeed a bit on the slow side but that does allow everyone to sing the ‘whole world smiles’ bit together at the end  - that was always the issue with the quicker version.  
 

and it’s our song and so much better than hey Jude which several clubs have as their pre k/o music (we did for ages ffs)

I think noise at football matches is a bit overrated. I think we should all just sit in a respectful, stupefied, silence throughout the game; possibly breaking out into polite applause if someone does something good.

 

If we do have to sing or play anything then it should be approved by a newly formed committee in advance. Then its historicity, factual accuracy and musical integrity can be fully considered. We should also canvas the opinions occasionally of fans, from different clubs,  so that we don’t promote anything that gives rise to unfavourable opinions of us. 
 

I think that should sort it for now, but we could review every six months to ensure it’s working well

It kills Kasabian which we play and is actually upbeat. Teams should come out to that.

I personally love it, its a rare connection song wise to our history. Maybe put a poll with your post so we can see if your speaking for any kind of majority of foxestalkers.
