The usual new manager bounce relies on the players lifted by a toxic presence leaving. If ours really do have the stockholm syndrome as badly as they appear to then we might not actually get an immediate surge. Pundits and ex-players will probably fall over themselves to back Rodgers, but I really do believe they should get with reality. Very few managers can achieve a long period of success and most go stale after a period of time. Only the very best managers with huge amounts of resource at their disposal can get sustained success. Even then some stay far too long (see Wenger at Arsenal). Even if we do still go down the time is right (or, perhaps, overdue).
