Rudkin

At the end of the day I want a specialist in the DoF role - a Dan Ashworth etc - not someone who was the academy coach when we were crap and has seemingly only got the job because he’s been at the club a while and ‘knows it inside out’ - that in itself is not good enough as we want outside ideas, new thinking and we’ve seen what happens when the stale and rot sets in. Not mentioning how he has two possible three (?) other roles within the KP group.

Yeah I agree with this, I actually think Rudkin must work bloody hard, but with 3 roles in the group he shouldn't have an all-encompassing role like DOF on a part time basis.

Some people on here seem to have very short memories. In the two years Rudkin was DOF before we won the league he was also heavily criticised for being slow and incompetent at his job winning the league seemed to shift that criticism away from him for a few years but the criticism isn't new and hasn't only come about because we have had a bad period he has always been and will always be not good enough a couple of years of success or failure do not change that.

He doesn't seem to be getting any better which should raise questions in itself. I'm sick of the devils advocate approach defending him - he's the DIRECTOR of football and we've been getting worse year on year. You can obfuscate some of his responsibilities but Evans confirmed Rudkin handles the contracts post-relegation.The contract situation alone should mean he fell on his sword, or was sacked.

Football moves on, approaches go stale, managers get left behind but Rudkin is infallible for some reason. Okay, yes he was DoF in our most successful season that's true but what good is that now? We don't refrain from sacking managers because they were successful.

Feel like sparks will have to fly between Rudkin and Maresca before Top thinks of replacing him.

I'm sure Glover, Whelan, every remaining analyst are already plenty sick of him. God knows how we didn't think of replacing him after the entire Silva saga, nobody at this level should be making those kinds of mistakes, not only that but clearly someone high up didn't trust Rudkin enough to let him handle any of our big money sales, as they were all handled by Whelan...

I think if sparks fly as you suggest there will be only one winner. Rudkin is so deeply embedded within king power he only goes when they go.

Who said it did? You realise that they cost money though don't you, which reduces the amount of money have to spend each season.

If we are paying £20m in interest each season, it means we have £20m less to spend elsewhere.

I can 100% tell you the reason money wasn't spent , was to do with FFP and being closely monitored . Also its not true that it was not spent because King Power was skint or struggling  or Top had spent money on the training ground etc etc etc, so said enough  . The loan is over some  time , this extending the cost over many seasons , so to not break FFP . All staff was still given their bonus's while covid was rife .I'll say it again FFP was the ONLY reason money wasn't spent .

Top rocks up into his office and says he wants to gallivant around Thailand for pre-season. Does he have the balls to tell him no? That would be a shit prep a week out from the Championship starting? Of course not, he’s packing his sunglasses faster than you can say pad Thai.

Never thought of this before - superb point.

It applies to an awful lot of people at this club.

If I apply it to someone in a similar role to me, if i'm Anthony Herlihy, I should be working for City group by now, or a massive European side.

Handling comms through our greatest success, and then writing THAT press release after our greatest tragedy, he would have been batting off offers left right and centre! I don't think it's any surprise our comms with fans has been utterly shocking for the last 3 years or so, he's gone stale in the role and looks very much as comfortable as part of the KP group as the likes of Rudkin and Susan.

Same applies for Susan too, she has more of an affiliation to KP through her own work and her husbands company designing their retail stores, but still, she's high up on the Premier League representation boards and you'd think she'd have been offered a few roles over the years!

I'm all for great places to work and staying with employers you love, but the lack of change in our senior leadership team over the last 8 years is frightening.
