The ashes 2023

Nobody. But fair's fair, unreal grab.

If I'm honest - I would expect test a keeper to take those more often than not, but I'm very happy for him. I hope it gives him a confidence boost when he bats too.

I think it is useful for impact, pitching etc.... but on hitting the stumps, absolutely. Maybe 2/3 or 3/3 UC means not out.

I guess the issue is that DRS means we now accept LBW is an objective decision, rather than an subjective one. It's hard to argue something is no longer out when the system put in place to decide tells us it is. As you say though, impact and pitching are still less objective metrics than hitting.

Well played England.

Disgraceful performance by umpires in the overturned LBW decisions. They are deciding who keeps or loses their reviews. If both had been given out as both plumb, the onus would have been on Australia to review and risk losing reviews, which could make a massive difference later in their innings, a la 2019.

Knife edge stuff then, the way the series has gone so far. As per above, need the last two quickly and then look to at least match their total by close of play while the batting conditions are good. Going to be living on the prayer that there is at least some time for play on day 4 or 5.

If either team had been 10% less stupid then one of them would’ve won the ashes by now. For all the drama, the batting has been atrocious at times.

Yep, but history tends to remember the dramatic close series with moments of genius and stupidity rather than the ones where the standard is massive and so one side when they get an advantage just roars off into the sunset. Unless you're dealing with true record-breaking territory, that is, like Bradman in 1930.

May I ask why?

I dislike review systems such as tennis and cricket have. For various reasons. In cricket particularly one reason is that the idea of conclusively showing what would have happened (ie lbw) is ridiculous. More generally because the review system can end up with it being shown clearly that a ball was in/out, or a catch was out/not out, but because the reviews are used up a blatant mistake has to stand. Either use the technology to make the calls, or don't. Personally I would lean towards 'don't' although it's clearly here to stay. But if that is the case then just use it for everything, and bin the review system.
