The ashes 2023

Recommended Posts

Absolutely gutted. Didn't see it coming at all.

Like Jimmy, a true legend of the game and English sport in general. Feel privileged to have been able to see him play so often.

Hope he gets the send off he deserves tomorrow.

Amazing timing as they had Mollie King in the TMS studio at tea and were asking her how long he could go on and she was saying cricket is his entire life and could see him going on for a while.

Two years from now he'll get a text from Stokes that says "Ashes?" ;)

The ball that got Root was a real turning grubber. Mo will be licking his lips at that Starc rough.

I don’t know if Moen will be bowling…but Root will have a few chuckdowns…more tan capable of turning out a 3 or 4 wkt haul..

Though our four quickies, will have a say first.ll

Andersen, has kept quiet so far…but high high emotions knowing,

two of Englands best era bowlers, are retiring from Ashes cricket.

And why would they want to Tour for the last time, where this next tour

is beginning of next year…

I have been both happy & sort of proud, backing their progress from day one,and

has a remote fan, followed all their English games with interest. Even angry when

they were not selected..

what will be interesting, will we find 2 new youngsters that can carry that English bowling batton

has good as these 2 have done,or just half as good will do…Our now remains top bowlers, from

these Ashes…Wood,Woakes, doubt will see another Ashes..Tongue the biggest high

potential is nearest to take over one of the batons at 25yrs old..

Then maybe the younger  Mathew Potts, spin department, can’t look further than Rehan Ahmed, who

looks a special talent..

Its just Australia always finds 3-4, without too much problem and 96% turn out to be

exceptionally world class. England spend years, trying to find regularly a top 3-5 bowlers.

Would love to see Broad get Warner one last time tomorrow

Oh just the thought, then explosive emotion…inside his first 3 overs, followed

by 3-5 quick wickets, with Andersen stamping his potential last Aussie Test

eith also a 5fer…

Broad & Andersen sharing the 10 wickets…what a send off, Aussies bowled out for under 100.

Even if the crowd don’t see the 5 days, the scenes and emotions would be phenomenal..

But this is when the Aussies are dangerous…they too have something to prove..

I'd fallen out of love with cricket for several years, but this ashes series has got me right back in. Shame we've got no more test cricket this summer because of some tacky, razzamattaz, neon-lit game for kids with 10 second attention spans.

Anderson has said, rightly or wrongly, said he wants to continue.

Weather isn't looking all that great so an overnight declaration still the best idea, hopefully there will be enough time to bowl them out and if they get 378, then they deserve the outright win tbh.

And thank you Broady, for everything. Won't be the same without him.

Another thing to take into context is that his daughter is still very little, although not this year most away test tours are around Christmas time and with the next tour being India it’s also not the easiest place for pace bowlers to go. A long time away from home, so much travelling. I’m glad he’s going out on his terms.

Isn’t it a bit odd to announce your retirement half way through a game though?

I understand Broads reasons but wonder why he didn’t wait until after the game?
