Fulham away - Mon 8th May

Recommended Posts

We have to dominate the ball against these, don't feel they really have a huge counter attacking threat but don't want to invite pressure on and let them get crosses in.

Castagne Faes Soyuncu Thomas

        Soumare Tielemans KDH

Maddison.                           Barnes

Think Maddie needs to be behind Vardy, to be that extra treat. I think we freeze him out playing on the wings. Interestingly Tielemans don't make starting XI.

I agree with this. With Mendy and KDH in the midfield we'll be a lot stronger defensively and with KDH and Kristiensen behind him Barnes will be much more of a threat. Tete gets in the lineup not because he's setting the world on fire but because he provides balance. With this starting lineup i think we have a chance of beating Fulham.

we played 433 against everton. Or a 4123 if we’re being technical. lol

Yeah we switched to 4231in the second half when Ndidi came off which is when we gave away the most space

Not true imo

when we changed it up we controlled the game for twenty minutes for the first time (because we had midfielders who could take the ball off the defence and pass it and also our balance high up was better which meant we weren’t just punting possession back to them)

it took dyche two tweaks of his formation to wrestle it back for the last ten mins

for whatever reason, smith chose to then leave it as it was and risked conceding a late winner

Yep - we were so open in the first half that it looked like our defence was hosting one of those open house events where all and sundry are invited to come in and wander around at their leisure.

Ndidi is a liability these days, sadly.

Someone said the Everton game was not a must win. Mathematically not, but look at our predicament now. We must rely on other results going for us for the next few weeks while our opponents get tougher.

We should have won but our defence once again made silly errors. Castagne is really a weak link and Ndidi is just bad for our midfield.

Got to start Mendy if we want a cover for our back four. If not, then just go for it - just not Ndidi.

The thing is the supporters of the 4 teams below us are thinking exactly the same as your first paragraph.

Plus, they all make defensive errors, have players that are struggling & probably not playing certain players that fans think they should be.

We’re all in a mess.

I think the must win statement is out of date.

For some reason we’re thinking all the teams around us will improve, but we’re all as shit as each other……..

What we need, is just keep our heads above water and pick up whatever points we can!

I'll look at it this way. If we fail to beat a Fulham side who have little to play for, that's missing Mitrovic, Pereira and Ream whilst we need to save our skins, we deserve to drop. If you can't raise your game for the club at this point then pi$$ off to your new club and leave us in peace.

You would think KDH would be chomping at the bit to back into the team. 2 games without even coming on as a sub.

Surely the Youri in a 10 experiment failed miserably on Monday night, the lad can’t press.

Drop Ndidi and bring in KDH to play in that pressing 10 role.

It’s then whether Smith goes for a DM in Mendy or persists with Youri next to Soumare?

Four points gives us a chance. Therefore, with defeat highly likely at Newcastle, we almost certainly have to win one of the other three. Realistically, this is one of the two where we stand a reasonable chance. Has to be a team to go out and try to win.

Ultimately this is the case but given things can and will change until the final whistle on the last day, it is also a dangerous game to play/mentality to have.

What happens if we contently go about losing or drawing the remaining games until the last day but it’s ok because the others did the same so we are still outside the bottom 3 on GD, only to go down due to a couple of late goals on the last day because we thought we were safe?

We're not reliant on anyone else. We win all our games then we stay up. It is literally in our own hands.

Yes I wanted to beat Leeds and Everton but we didn't. We are still in a better position than 4 other teams. As long as we are in a better position than at least 3 come end of the season I am happy.
