World Cup of LCFC Managers

Recommended Posts

Great idea - but cutting off Peter Hodge because he came just before the cut-off point (he's 34th, counting back in time) means our greatest ever manager (IMHO) is ruled out of the game.

Is it too late to tweak it a bit and add Hodge (and Willie Orr - another great from the 1920s) in place of two of the less important bosses later on?  Like Mather and  Hamilton, for example?

Or just disregard the 8 minutes Gary Megson was in charge of our club

I’m sure that if there is a Group with a 100% vote (and there were a few the last time I checked) that people won’t mind if I put him in for the knockouts

How did McLintock get through the worst manager we've ever had.

I guess no one is old enough to remember Frank Womack. He actually won us a Second Division title in 1937 and should obviously be going through ahead of Holloway and McLintock if you just judge them by their record.

Yes it's an age old problem, literally with these types of poll.

I don't know Womack but I endured Mclintock season.

Oh dear. Rodgers beating O'Farrell I can understand, but Sven (and Wallace) ahead of Halliday? Has nobody bothered to check who Dave Halliday was? He took us up, kept us up, and assembled much of the side that Gillies enjoyed his early success with. It takes about twenty seconds to find that out. McLintock, and even Puel, ahead of Womack is even more insane. Womack took over a struggling second tier side, won the division the same year, and kept us up for a year with little in the kitty. Instead of asking the public it might be best to just compare their silverware and win %.

12.5% win rate.

It’s too hard because people weren’t alive. Probably needs to be first divided into era’s.
